    Review & Installation Video

    Review & Install Video

Hey, everybody. I'm Justin with here with my quick review of the Putco Black Platinum Pillar Posts available for your 2015 and up SuperCrew and SuperCab F-150. In this video, guys, I'm gonna walk you through what you can expect from the Putco Black Platinum Posts, as far as construction, what they're gonna do to your truck as far as functionality and appearance, how they're gonna affect your budget, and finally what it takes to get them installed. And as you might expect with this one, guys, a simple peel-and-stick job, so nothing too crazy. A soft one out of three wrenches on my difficulty meter. These pillar posts from Putco should appeal to any newer F-150 owner out there looking to cover the factory plastic posts that can oftentimes become scratched very easily and become a little unsightly over time. Now, these are definitely gonna be your more premium option of covering these factory pillar posts, as opposed to vinyl, per se, and ultimately the Putco option will be a little bit more durable in the process. Now, Putco should definitely be a familiar name in the truck aftermarket because they've been around forever, producing a wide variety of truck accessories, mostly of the chrome variety, but more recently have been branching out a little bit more, producing some auxiliary lighting and some other products as well. The black platinum lineup from Putco is definitely one of their newer lineups or newer editions, and it is aimed at more of a higher-end market, and the prices are going to reflect that. However, you are getting a premium build in exchange, along with their very unique gloss black coating, or their mirror black finish. Now, these particular pillar posts that I have here in this video are going to live up to that premium name because you are gonna be looking at premium grade stainless steel for the basic construction here with these covers. And then they are finished off in that mirror black gloss coating that we just talked about. All this stuff, guys, made in the USA and is backed by Putco's lifetime warranty. Appearance-wise, don't really expect anything too drastically different compared to your factory pillar posts, as they're both gonna be giving you that same gloss black finish. The difference, however, is going to come in the materials. Now, as any 2015 and newer owner can attest, the factory pillar posts on these things are very attractive, don't get me wrong, but if you look at these things the wrong way, they can scratch and oftentimes do. And that's not exactly what you want when you have a truck and you treat it, well, like a truck. So with that said, the added durability that the Putco covers will be bringing to the table is definitely gonna be one of their biggest pros here. I've tried scratching these things with my fingernail and a few other objects, and they seem to be holding up to the abuse just fine. But again, you are gonna be paying for all this because the black platinum lineup here is certainly living up to the platinum name, and these things are no excuse. They're gonna be commanding near $200 bucks. So again, a lot more than you're gonna be spending for some of your other options, such as vinyl, like we mentioned a little bit earlier, but these things will be adding some additional benefits that the vinyl will not. So ultimately, it's gonna be up to you guys to decide if these guys are worth it. Another big plus with the Putco pillar posts is the ease of installation. Now, as I mentioned at the top of this video, guys, you're looking at a very simple peel-and-stick job here, no tools needed whatsoever. So for that, expect a very, very soft one out of three wrenches on my overall scale of difficulty. Maybe 30 minutes to an hour to get everything installed. A couple of quick points on the install here, guys. Now, Putco actually recommends doing the install in temperatures above 60 degrees Fahrenheit. And of course, with any peel-and-stick job, they do recommend cleaning the area thoroughly first using the supplied alcohol prep pads. Now, Putco also recommends go ahead and eyeballing these things up before you actually adhere them to your truck, just to get a better idea of how they're gonna sit. Once you have a better idea how these things are gonna sit on your truck, simply remove the protective backing on the pre-installed 3M automotive tape and then carefully adhere to your truck. Knock out all four pillars, and your install is complete. The platinum black pillar posts from Putco are gonna offer a great build, great materials, and a really sharp finish that's gonna fix an often problematic area for the newer F-150 owners out there. So be sure to check out a set for your ride right here at

      Design change?

I received my pillar post covers and to my surprise, They did not look the same as my friends. They both say Putco but he's are beveled on the edges with a much nicer look. I 'am not real happy.
