Have there been any reports of vibration caused by the pinion angle being thrown off by the installation of these? I know in some cases past shackles have required shims to avoid this issue.

        • When installing the Max Trac 1 in. Drop Shackles, you may require shims to remove small amounts of vibration that may be present after installing the drop shackles.

I have these shackles coming for my 16 F-150. I notice there are two holes on the top of the Shackle. Other companies state you can use one hole or the other. Are these the same? Which hole do I use? Does it change the drop height, like from a one inch to a two inch?

        • Contrary to what the picture shows, there are only one set of holes to use. So there's no need to figure out which holes to use. They drop one inch.

Just got a new 2wd f150 with 6 1/2 ft bed. Want to install these but am concerned about the change in angle of the differential. IF.......shims are required where is a source for them. I don't want to deal with any vibration issues.

I am going to be buying a 2017 F150 SuperCab 4x4. I am wanting to lowering it in the front and rear. What are my options? Part of the description says "These parts will drop your vehicle level between 1/2 inch and 2 inches overalll." Dropping the truck 1/2" when there is rough 10 extra inches between the wheel well and the wheel is minute. A guaranteed 2" would be good. It is at all possible to do 2" in the front and 4" in the rear. Thank You for all the information. 1 answer

but it did help level my truck a little, you can put them on without cutting your bed rail. just jack your truck up high enough, took me about a hour and half tip put grease fitting on before you start

            Looks Great

Easy install, had to use some unconventional tactics but we got them in without hammering the bed. MAKE SURE YOU GREASE THEM UP! I thought I used enough grease and then they started squeaking after a week, had to pack even more in the ports.

            Satisfied

Fairly easy to install. Instructions provided are super generic so here are my tips, I used a 4 post lift and transmission jack but I’m sure it can be done in the driveway easily. The leaf springs will need to be moved to various heights during install to remove and install bolts which come very close to frame. Install the top bolt that goes through the spring and shackle first when weight of truck is on axle so you have room to slide it in and so when lowering the truck the shackle will fall into the hangar. Also have a dead blow hammer on hand to shift parts and assist bolts through holes.

            So far so good!

I bought these to take some of the factory rake out of my 2017 F-150 XL 2wd. Originally there was about 2 3/4 in. difference in height in the front and rear wheel well and that has gone down about an inch. These will not make your truck level but they will allow you to do things like tow a trailer without looking like an idiot. Also gives the truck more of a street truck vibe. I paid $200 to have them installed in about 45 min. I'm sure installation would be a breeze if I had the proper jack. Overall I don't think it hurt or helped the overall feel of the suspension. Time will tell how they hold up.

            No more rake

The overall outcome was good, would be nice to have the grease fittings already installed. Be sure to overly grease the bolts and shackles as you install, I did not as I followed the directions (which say to grease after all is installed with grease fittings) and noticed suspension squeaking in two days, called MaxTrac and they said you have to be heavy handed with the grease during install. I then took it apart and greased each component then reinstalled, no squeaks. I also think these may need shims as I have noticed some vibration now. Looks much better without the huge rake!

This is 2nd truck I have used Max Trac drop shackles on Very good product that will give a truck a minimum drop of one inch. Very well built, most likely stronger then factory shackle and the powder coating finish is great. Great product at a great price!

Not for the DIY weekend warrior

The instructions that come with the product are absolutely no help if you don't know what you're doing. They're also a catch-all for their entire product line, so you may as well throw them in the trash. I also had to tap the holes for the grease fittings since there were no female threads for the male end on the grease fitting (imagine that). Other than that, the installation wasn't too bad and the final product is quite satisfying.
