The Smoked Third Brake Light that we have here today will appeal to all 2015 through 2020 F150 owners who are looking to ditch that boring red factory option and go with a more sinister smoked lens that will still pack plenty of brightness thanks to the modern LED operation. Now, this option is gonna combine both the white and red LEDs in a DOT-approved package all for right around that mid $100 price point. Installation, on the other hand, really couldn't be much easier here gang thanks to the plug-and-play install. So, expect a pretty soft one out of three wrenches on the old difficulty meter and I would say about 30 minutes or less to complete from start to finish, but hang with me for a bit and I'll walk you through this job later in the video. Now here at americantrucks.com, we have several different third brake light options. Some are certainly gonna be a little bit more factory-inspired while others, well, others are gonna be a little bit more aggressive. Now the option that we're featuring here today, I would say, will certainly appeal to the truck owners looking for something a bit more aftermarket by appearance and really dig that smoked look, especially if you've already installed some other smoked lighting on your rig. This is obviously gonna flow very well with those as this almost appears black when all of the lights are off, but underneath that dark smoked poly lens is where this light really is going to shine, cheesy joke aside, and that is due to the combination of both your white and red LEDs.Now those LEDs are going to be a bunch brighter compared to your dingy factory incandescent bulb and will only help increase your visibility while on the road leading to more safety. Now the LEDs are nestled into that durable ABS plastic housing, and again, this has been designed to be a direct factory replacement meaning there's no need for any crazy modifications or anything like that. Finally, guys, everything has been sealed up nice and tight to prevent any water or condensation from building up behind that lens over time, but shifting gears, let's briefly talk installation and I say briefly because this is gonna be a very, very simple job guys. No wiring. No modification. Just simply pop the screws out, plug it in and you're good to go, but to give you a better idea of how things will go down exactly, feel free to check out our detailed walk-through and tool breakdown right now.Tools used for this installation include a 1/4-inch ratchet, 7-millimeter socket, and a panel removal tool. All right, guys, getting started here with this install, it's gonna be a very easy job. There are four 7-millimeter bolts or screws that you have to remove and at that point, you can slide out the factory housing and we'll unplug the connector back there, but again, you can use whatever you really like. I have a 7-millimeter socket. A little easier that way, but if you have a Phillips head, flathead screwdriver, these bolts will be able to be removed with that as well. So, let's get started. All right. Now that we have all four of our screws removed, we can gently pry the housing off the truck. Now our next step guys is pretty simple, we just basically unplug our factory harness and then plug in our new light. To show you a little bit better though how it's gonna go, we're gonna actually remove these two clips or push these clips through so it can actually physically show you the connection. Again, you don't have to do this step if you don't want to. We just wanna show you a little bit better of how it's gonna go. All right. So here's your clip.Actually, this is the connector that you will need to remove in order to plug in your new smoked option. Just simply pinch your connector and pull out. All right, guys. Now that we have our stocker completely removed, we figured we'd throw it right next to the smoked unit here and visually couldn't be any more different. Right? Obviously, the stock light is gonna give you the red and clear combination. This is a very sinister look as I pointed out earlier. With the light off, without those LEDs on, it looks like a smoked-out light which, again, great fit if you are doing that smoked-out look with your truck. Just very sleek, very sinister. However, once this thing is plugged in and turned on as you'll see here in a bit, those LEDs really do come to life. And despite that really dark smoked housing or lens, it's still going to allow for plenty of light through thanks in part to those modern and bright LEDs whereas your stocker, on the other hand, is gonna utilize a dated incandescent bulb and as such, it's a little yellow, a little dim so...but what do you say we show you how to get this installed and show you in action. All right, guys. Now we're gonna install our new light here. Very simple stuff. Now before you go ahead and plug everything in, move your factory connector to the middle hole. You'll see why in a second but first just go ahead and plug that in. Pretty simple. It only goes in one way. Fish the wire in. Again, if you want, plug that into the chassis, you can as far as your Christmas tree clip is concerned. It's a little tough to get back in there if you have big fingers like me. I'm just gonna let mine kinda dangle and now you see why you need to use that middle hole because the wire comes out of your middle bay here and otherwise, if it was over there, you wouldn't be able to fully seat it to the chassis or the cab. So, with it plugged in, just simply install it onto the factory location and grab your factory screws. All right. Just make sure all of the clips are fully seated. Reinstall your factory screws. Just get them finger-tight first then go back and tighten them up with our socket. Now we're just gonna tighten up our screws here using our 7-millimeter socket. And with that final screw tightened up, that's gonna wrap up this pretty simple install of the Smoked Third Brake Light available for your 2015 through 2020 F150 at home. Hey, guys, we hope you enjoyed this brief review and install of the LED Third Brake Light here for your rig and keep in mind, for more cool products and videos like this, keep it right here at americantrucks.com.
