Hey, guys. Adam here with americantrucks.com, and today we're taking a quick look at and installing the G4 Light Bar Switchback Projector Headlights with the Black Housing and Clear Lens, available for the '09 to '14 F150. You should be checking this out if you're looking for a super modern switch-up at the front end, one that's gonna give you a really high-quality, modern, new-gen technology at the front while giving you a stealthy look at the same time. Now, these are one of the more unique options in the category and they have an even more unique feature, the switchback. I'll get to that in just a second. Now, right off the bat here, that it's gonna use a U-shaped DRL or daytime running light in a pure white, very opaque 6,000k color temperature. So, it is a pure white light and it's got a tri-bar accent light right below it. So, that even takes it a little bit further.Typically, you just get the one DRL, but this has a total of four on each side. Inside of that is a matte black housing to give the impression of a smoked headlight with a clear lens so it doesn't hurt any of the lighting output. You get an amber reflector on the side similar to your factory one, but the center is gonna switch over from a factory reflector-style to a projector-style headlight with a dual projector design. That's gonna give you an H7 low and an H11 high beam that are super, super bright. This is one of the brightest options in the category, in my opinion. If you're looking for all-out visibility and lots of attractive finishes at the front, this is a great way to go.Now, switching back over to the switchback design I mentioned. What that basically means is the tri-bar DRL in each of the corners here goes from a bright white daytime running light to an amber turn signal with your turn signals and hazard light. So, anytime you have those on, it switches from white to a bright amber LED, and that's known as the switchback. There's a version of these headlights that are a little bit more affordable that have the exact same design without the switchback. So, it stays in the white light for the DRL, if you're looking to cut that out and save some money in your pocket. Now, that's up to you. People who want a more unique headlight wanna go with the switchback version we have here. With the price in mind, it comes in right around 600 bucks for the pair. If you're looking to get it without the switchback, drop off about 100 bucks from that price tag. Now, the install, I'm giving one out of three wrenches on our difficulty meter. It is a pure plug and play install, which makes it one of the easiest things that you can do to your F150. It's about three bolts, swapping over a couple of sockets. All of the LED technology is built in, all the high beams and low beams are built in as well. With that said, it will take you about 30 minutes to an hour from start to finish. What do you say we get started? All right. Tools used in the install include an impact gun or a ratchet and a 10-millimeter socket.First step of the uninstall, pop your hood. There's three bolts holding on our factory headlight, I'm starting on our driver's side, two at the top, one on the side. Grab a 10-millimeter socket and impact gun or a ratchet and get them off. All right. Next, we can pull our headlight out. From there, you wanna carefully pinch and disconnect the factory wiring. There's three of them. Set your factory light aside. So, we got our factory headlight off of the driver's side of our '13 F150 behind me and it's on the table here next to our new LED switchback headlight. And I wanna go through some similarities and differences between the two here. And I got to say from head to toe, this is gonna be a complete revamp compared to your factory one. The factory light here is the reflector-style headlight. Some F150s did come with a projector-style, but that's not gonna be for this one here. This only fits the non-HID or non-halogen lights. This is the reflector-style which has a very traditional chrome flashy interior housing with a clear lens. It uses incandescent bulbs instead of some of the upgraded HID or halogen lights. It's also gonna use a pretty bland amber reflector on the side. This new light here is gonna convert that mainly from the reflector-style to a projector-style headlight with H7 low and H11 high beams. Now, those are gonna be, alone, a lot brighter and more attractive than the factory one and it's also a lot more modern, but it's the DRL light and the switchback technology that really takes it a step further. Now, the switchback technology is something that's pretty unique to this one in the category. Switchback refers to the amber turn signal that will be amber when you turn your turn signals and hazard lights on, but it switches back to a white daytime running light when your turn signals or hazard lights are off. Now, typically, you get an amber turn signal and that's it. It would be off when your headlights are on or your turn signals are off. But in this case, it's actually got to function without turn signals and hazards which is pretty unique, really modern, not something you see a lot like I said. So, definitely worth the price if you're looking for something that is gonna make your truck stand out at the front end, even against some of the other aftermarket options. With that, there's a black interior housing and a clear lens. Now, the black housing is gonna give you the impression of a smoked headlight, but allow 100% of the light to get through. So, it's gonna be really bright while still giving you the stealthy look at the front, not like your factory one which is, again, very chrome and traditional. With that said, we have to transfer over two of the factory bulb sockets. We'll take the bulbs out of the socket, and it's gonna be plug and play at the back end so we can reuse the factory harness in the vehicle. So, I'm just gonna pop those two out, swap them over and then we'll get to the install. So, I flipped the factory headlight around. You're basically gonna twist out the amber turn signal, pull the bulb out because it's new LED technology. So, we don't need that guy. The LED is gonna plug straight into there. Set that guy down. Then the other corner light on the opposite end, do the same thing. Pull that guy out. This one is a lot smaller, so just be careful you don't cross the glass on the bulb there. Pull that guy out and set it down. Now, we can install them on the back of the new light. On the corner here, we're gonna plug in our factory bulb socket. Now, you wanna make sure you're putting the black wire on the opposite side of where the clip is. So, the clip goes here, black wire is gonna go on the other side so it matches up with the black wire on the factory harness. So, I'm just going to plug it in just like that. So, the green wire is on the same side as the clip. From there, we can mount the light into the hardware. Then you twist it to lock it in. All right. So, now the clip on the brown connector is up top, that's where you wanna make sure the black wire is this time. It's almost the opposite of the previous one. We'll plug that in. Black wire matches up with the clip, same as the one on the factory harness. Now, we can mount this back into the vehicle. I'm gonna lock that in place. Now, we can install the headlight. All right. So, now we can pull our headlight up and plug in all the factory harnesses. At this point, it's just simply plug and play. Now, you have to prop it up here for the middle one. All right. Once you have all that fully clipped in, you wanna make sure you hear the click and mount it into the vehicle. Use your factory hardware to tighten it down. Okay. Repeat the whole process on the opposite side and you're good to go.That's gonna wrap up my review and install for the G4 Light Bar Switchback Projector Headlights with the Black Housing and Clear Lens for the '09 to '14 F150.
