      Video Review & Installation

If you're looking to switch up the boring factory tail lights on your '04 to '08 F150 at home, well, then you'll wanna check out the Raxiom Black LED tail lights that we have here today. Now, these DOT-approved tail lights will feature a modern LED operation and, of course, a very modern look along with some bonus accent lighting all for right around the $200 price point. Install according to the site is gonna get a solid one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter and I would say take about an hour at most to complete from start to finish as we'll show you guys later in the video. Aftermarket tail lights are one of those areas that really gives owners a wide variety of options to choose from, ranging from mild to wild and everything in between. Now, the black options here from Raxiom are certainly going to appeal more to the truck owners who prefer more of that modified or aftermarket look. So, if you're into that, great, you're in the right place. However, if you prefer more of a factory look or factory styled tail light, well then you might wanna check out the rest of our selection here at AT, where by the way, we do have a ton to choose from. But for the purposes of this video, let's focus in on the Raxiom black options here. And on the surface, you're getting the glossy black ABS plastic housing, which is then topped off with a crystal clear polycarbonate lens that still allows for plenty of visibility along, of course, with that DOT approval. But the big story here, no doubt, guys is the full LED operation for things like your running lights, brake lights, turn signals, and hazards while the one lone exception being the reverse lights that do get transferred over from your stock tail lights and will reuse your stock bulb, great opportunity to upgrade. Now, for the most part, guys, all of your LED lighting, your brake lights, turn signals, all that good stuff will be housed in the top block here while the reverse lights are, of course, down below. Now, those LEDs are gonna be far brighter than the stock incandescent bulb that you will be replacing. And that's only in turn just gonna help increase things like your visibility on the road and, of course, your safety. If people see your brake lights better, they know when to stop and so forth. Outside of that though, this is a very modern-looking tail light. The LEDs alone will kick that up a bit, but then things like the housing here, the reflectors down below, how everything has been implemented into the total package certainly gives this a much more modern appearance. And by the way, these are very popular here on the site. In fact, check out the numerous five-star reviews on the Raxiom tail lights for this particular generation truck. And there's also a bunch of customer-submitted images that you can check out as well. Might give you a better idea of what to expect once these guys have been installed. Now, again, this is a DOT-approved light, basically meaning you can use them in all 50 states. And for the most part guys, this is a full plug-and-play job. Again, you do have to transfer over that reverse light bulb. But outside of that, everything else is gonna be completely plug and play. There's no modification necessary to get these things actually in place. And this can be a very easy job to knock out. So, to prep you for that, check out our detailed walkthrough and tool breakdown right now.Tools used for this installation include a 3/8 ratchet and an 8-millimeter socket. All right, guys, getting started here with our tail light install on our truck, this is a very simple job. All you really need in our case is an 8-millimeter socket or a flathead screwdriver to tackle these two bolts which hold the factory housing in place. And we're gonna show you how to remove those right now. With our two eight mils removed, now we can just slide the housing towards the rear of the truck. There are a couple of clips in the back that should release. Now, we're just gonna unplug our factory harness from the top and bottom connection and remove the factory light from the truck. Well, now that we have our stock tail light out, we figured it'd be a great opportunity to throw it next to the Raxiom option and just point out the differences. And as you can see, they're pretty obvious. The Raxiom tail light is definitely gonna deliver that aftermarket look. It's a huge departure from the stock tail light in just about every way. But most importantly, again, you are getting the modern and bright LEDs up top here. That's gonna be replacing that old incandescent bulb that's dull and dim.And on top of that, you're getting just a radical look. The black housing topped off the clear lens, certainly gonna deliver a modified look, a very aggressive look if you will, and one that's still very much easy to install. So, all we have to do now is basically transfer over our reverse light bulb, plug everything in and we're good to go. So, now that you know the differences, let's show you how to get it installed. All right. Before we can go ahead and install our new Raxiom option, we do need to transfer over our reverse light bulb as mentioned earlier. Pretty simple to do guys, just go ahead and grab it and turn and it should pop right out. Now, as I mentioned in my video earlier, this would be a great opportunity if you wanted to keep that LED look consistent. You can always grab just an LED reverse light bulb. It'll match the color of the lighting on the tail light here, the new tail light that is a little bit better and pretty affordable overall. But if you don't, simply just grab it, insert it into the new housing and lock it in.Now, we're ready to install our new Raxiom tail light. We just have to plug everything in. The reverse light bulb that we just transferred over goes green to green. Pretty obvious there. Plug that in. And the black harness goes up top here. Now, because of the modern lighting and technology here in the new Raxiom tail lights, they do include this resistor box that does have some 3M adhesive located on the back. Typically, you would go ahead and find a nice spot to stick that to inside of the truck opening here or the tail light opening I should say. But because we are gonna put this truck back to stock after this video, we're not gonna physically install this. But for now, we're just gonna tuck it in here. Now, we're just gonna reinstall the tail light in reverse order. Again, these two clips in the back have to get clipped in here with the new Raxiom tail light and that will help seat the light in place. Now, we're just gonna reinstall our two 8-millimeter screws into the new Raxiom tail light. And with that bottom screw tightened up, that's gonna wrap up the installation of the passenger's side. Simply repeat that process on the driver's side. Check for proper operation and your installation is complete.Hey, we hope you enjoyed this brief review and install of the Raxiom LED Tail Lights here in black, available for your '04 to '08 F150 at home.
