Hey, guys. It's Joe from AmericanTrucks and today, we're gonna be taking a closer look at the Diablosport Predator 2 Platinum Tuner, fitting all '99 to '16 5.3-Liter Powered Silverado 1500s. Now, this is gonna be a great budget-friendly tuner that is going to pack some serious horsepower gains. Even on the preloaded tunes, it's also going to come with some great tools that any Silverado owners should be able to put to use. So what do we have going on here with the Predator 2 Platinum? Well, first things first. Let's dive into the numbers. I know that's what you guys want to talk about. That's what I want to talk about. So here is what we did for our test. First things first, we put the stock tires back on. We had 87 octane in the tank for both before and after. For baseline run, we put down 282 horsepower, 308 foot-pounds of torque at the wheels with the 15% drive train loss, that's exactly where you'd expect it to be. Then we uploaded our 87 octane performance tune when we put down 294 horsepower and 322 foot-pounds of torque at the rear wheels. And that makes this good for about 12 horsepower at the peak, but this gets even better under the curve. At about 4,250 RPM, we saw gains of 33 horsepower and 27 foot-pounds of torque. Really, really great numbers there for even the preloaded tunes. I was really surprised. Usually, you don't see curve gains that big, 3,327, definitely something you're going to notice as you're crossing over that 4,250 RPM mark. And even on 87, that's gonna make a huge difference in drivability for our '16 Silverado. If we drain that 87 out of there, filled it up with 93 to the brim, I bet we'd make even bigger numbers. Suffice to say that if you went with this one, you would as well. This does have a couple of different options for the preloaded tunes 87, 93. You also get performance 87, towing 87 and then performance 93 and towing 93. And heck, if you just wanted to keep your truck stock and adjust a couple of options about it, that's in there as well. You can adjust things such as speed limiters, rev limiters, shift points for the automatic and even different tire sizes. So if you want to go with a little bit bigger tire that might throw off your speedometer, you can dial that into correction with the Diablosport. Now, if you did want to ditch that preloaded tune route and go with a custom tune instead, you could absolutely do that. Once you have that written, you can plug this into your PC, upload that custom-tuned to your Diablosport, and that will work just like the regular preloaded tunes. So this is definitely capable of getting even more horsepower out of that 5.3 if you wanted somebody to really nail down your trucks specifically. On top of that, this is also capable of data logging. That's gonna make it a little bit easier on your custom tuner to really nail down those power numbers. This packs a five-button interface as well as a full-colored 2.8-inch display as well. And it even works as a diagnostic tool allowing you to read and clear those DCTs better known to you guys probably as check engine lights. Now the pricing for the Predator gonna be right around 330 bucks and for the horsepower you're gonna get out of something like this, really not a bad price to pay, really cheap in terms of horsepower gains. On top of that, you get all those great tools as well. This is definitely going to go a long way in terms of money spent, a good return on investment for sure. The install for this is gonna be a really simple one out of three wrenches on our difficulty meter, should take you at most about 15 minutes to get this hooked up and have your truck tuned. So without any further ado, let me show you how to upload a tune and some of the other features of the Predator. So all we're gonna have to do to get up and running with this thing, you can see it has a hard wire in here on the bottom of the device, other end is for the OBD II port that's below the steering wheel to the left, right in the pedal well, that is going to plug it right into place. Now, as soon as our device is plugged into the OBD II port, it's going to power on. At the main menu here, you'll get three big options, TUNE, that's probably the one that you guys are most concerned with, SCAN, this is gonna be the diagnostic tool, we'll show you that a little bit later, and INFO, this is where you're gonna get truck info, some tuner info if you need it, that's what you're gonna select. Now, first thing we're gonna do, we're gonna jump right into the tunes. We don't have any custom tunes, so we're gonna go with standard tuning for now and then it's going to pull some info out of the computer on your trucks. So there are gonna be a few load bars the first time you do this and then you'll be greeted with this screen right here showing you the pre-loaded tunes. Now, there are a couple of options in there. In our case, we're trying to make numbers, so we're gonna go with the 87 performance tune. And that's just a warning to make sure you have at least 87 in the tank. Now, at this point it's gonna ask you if you want to customize options. That's where you'd adjust your shift points, speed limiter, rev limiter, stuff like that. For now, we are going to skip that. Then, it's going to build our tune based off what we selected and it's gonna upload it to the truck after we click the okay button, just to confirm. All we have to do after that is weigh out the load bars here while our truck is being reflashed. It's gonna ask us to turn the ignition off, press okay, once you've done that. And we're pretty much set after that really simple process. The 87 tune is now installed to our Silverado. We get this confirmation screen here. We're just gonna press okay to that. And that is pretty much the TUNE menu. We're gonna move right along here to the SCAN menu. This is pretty self-explanatory. Reading clear those diagnostic trouble codes better known as check engine lights, a little bit of data logging here if need be, I'll show you what that is gonna look like. I'm gonna turn the ignition back on. Now, press okay. Here you can see the data log, stream the data or load it from a file, all those options there if you do need it. And a really important one for tuning is battery voltage, 12.5, that's exactly what you want. Anything over 11 is usually good enough to upload a tune without any problems. After that, we're gonna dive into INFO. Up top, we have Vehicle Info. Here you can see the tune level applied, the VIN, some other numbers there as well. And below that, we have some Device Info, skew stock keeping unit. This is just the number for this device itself. We have the app on here, the version basically if you need anything about what kind of software this is, what the device actually is, it'll be in this menu. And after that, that pretty much sums up this one right here. Really, really simple to get it tune applied, really, really basic menus and a nice, big color screen here for doing data logging, looking at gauges, stuff like that. Guys, that is gonna do it for me and it's also gonna do it for the Diablosport Predator 2 Platinum Tuner, fitting all '99 to '16 5.3-Liter Powered Silverado 1500s. As always, thank you guys so much for watching. Subscribe for more like this one. Keep it right here on AmericanTrucks for all things Chevy.
