The 85-millimeter C&L Throttle Body that we have here is gonna be for the 2015 through '17 F-150 owners who are looking to squeeze every last bit of power out of their naturally-aspirated or boosted 5-liter V8. The materials for the no tune required part will be quality T6 billet aluminum along with the drive by wire electronics, which have already been pre-installed and calibrated for you. Pricepoint for the throttle body will hover in that mid $300 range and the installation is gonna be a breeze for most owners out there. So what do you say we call it one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter, maybe an hour of your time to complete from start to finish as we'll demonstrate later in the video. So throttle body upgrades like this continue to be a popular choice for both car and truck owners alike because they're an easy way to squeeze a little bit more top-end power out of your setup along with adding a little bit more throttle response. The best part is you can do all this without the need for any additional tuning or modifications. Now, the factory F-150 throttle body is 80 millimeters in diameter while the C&L here is stepping that up 5 additional millimeters to 85. So that's ultimately gonna result in a 15% increase in airflow capability. Now, don't expect them to set the world on fire as far as horsepower and torque gains are concerned. In fact, I'd say best case scenario here for most truck owners will be in the high single-digit range. Maybe a little bit more on forced induction applications. Now, as far as your build or construction is concerned, you're gonna find a very high quality 6061 T6 billet aluminum for the overall construction here, which has been finished off in the black coating for a very sleek look. Now, on top of that, guys, all the C&L throttle bodies do include completely new electronics which have already been free calibrated, meaning you just bolt this thing up and go without needing to do anything else.I do also wanna point out that you can use the C&L throttle body in conjunction with your factory intake or an aftermarket intake of your choosing. You might have to stretch that coupler a little bit to get it over the larger opening, but really shouldn't be that big of a deal. But like I said earlier here, gang, one of the best things about a throttle body is the ease of install. So, again, strong one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter, maybe an hour of your time, very straightforward stuff. And to prove that to you, here's our detailed walkthrough we promised you in addition to a quick tool breakdown.Tools used for this installation include a 1/4-inch inch-pound torque wrench, 1/4-inch ratchet, extension, 7-millimeter socket, and an 8-millimeter socket. Now, we're gonna get started here with our C&L throttle body install for our 2015 5-liter truck. Our truck is lifted 6 inches, so depending on your current truck's lift status, probably not a bad idea to have a little step stool or something to help you get down in the engine bay. Now, I'm 6'1, I'm not a short dude by any stretch, but it's down in there, so it's certainly going to help us out in the long run. For our first step, we are actually going to remove the intake tube itself. This isn't totally necessary for you guys at home. Obviously it needs to get disconnected from the throttle body, but by us removing it, it's just gonna give you guys a better look at what we're doing. Let's get started. Remove this 7-millimeter clamp here or loosen it so we can remove this end of our intake tube from the airbox. Now, before we move down to our intake throttle body connection, we are gonna remove these two hose connections here, these vacuum hose connections on the backside of the intake, which will allow us to remove the tube once the throttle body clamp is loosened up. We're gonna take our 7-millimeter socket once again and loosen up this hose clamp here at the throttle body, which will then allow us to remove the intake tube from the truck. So now we can slide off our connection at the throttle body. Now we can go ahead and disconnect our air tube from the airbox and we're gonna slide out our intake tube and set it aside. Now we're going to switch out for our 8-millimeter socket here on our extension and start by removing the top two 8-millimeter bolts securing the throttle body to the intake manifold. Now we can remove the bottom two 8-millimeter bolts. With our bolts removed, now we can simply unplug the factory throttle body connector by removing the locking tab or sliding it out and then releasing the clip. And now you can remove the throttle body from the truck. With our factory throttle body out of the way, now we can install our new C&L option here, and we're gonna reuse our factory 8-millimeter bolts, which we will eventually torque down to 89-inch-pounds. But for now, let's get our throttle body in place and start by lightly inserting the bolts and loosely tighten them up for now.All right. Next step, now that our bolts are snug but not tight, we're gonna grab our inch-pound torque wrench and tighten the bolts down in a crisscross pattern to 89-inch-pounds. Now, that's inch-pounds, not foot-pounds. You wanna be very careful not to over tighten these bolts. Now, this isn't exactly necessary, but when giving these kinds of specs, it's always good to know the factory torque spec. So in this case, again, 89-inch-pounds is what you're after. So now we're gonna take our included jumper harness and attach this portion here to the C&L first followed by the round flattish oval portion to the factory harness. Now, this is a step you could do before you bolt everything down, but I found that the harness might get in your way a little bit for this bottom left-hand bolt. Now we can grab our factory intake tube and reinstall it. We're gonna run it underneath our overflow hose here. I'm gonna hook it up to the airbox first and then we'll worry about our throttle body connection next. Now with that loosely in place, we're not gonna tighten it down fully yet because we wanna be able to kind of manipulate the tube a little bit to get the coupler over the slightly larger opening of the C&L. So now just grab our factory tube, get it in place. Now grab your 7-millimeter socket and tighten up your couplers. Now simply re-install the vacuum hoses on the intake tube. All right. With all your connections made, your installation is complete. Keep in mind, this is no-tune required throttle body, so once your bolt-on installation is done, go out and enjoy your truck. Have some fun.Guys, we hope you enjoyed this review and install of the C&L 85-millimeter Throttle Body for your '15 to '17 5-liter F-150 at home.
