Hey guys, Adam here with americantrucks.com and today we're taking a closer look at, installing and listening to the Borla Touring Dual Rear Exit Exhaust, available with the Black Chrome Tips for all 2015 and newer 5-liter F-150s. You should be checking this out as you just heard from our sound clips if you're looking for something that's not gonna be too aggressive off the line, but something that gives you a little bit more volume, a little bit more of a growl and also premium quality materials. Now, Borla offers a number of different options in their series, they have the Touring, the Stinger S-type and the ATAK. The Touring is the most mellow of the three options from Borla but you're looking at Borla if you want top quality systems. Borla is known for using 304 stainless steel, the best quality materials in the category. They have a long-lasting lifetime, something that is a little bit more corrosion and rust resistant than most options, and they have really awesome tips coming out the rear.As you just heard from our sound clips, I'm giving this two out of five on our loudness meter. Like I said, not much louder than stock, just a little bit more aggressive but overall has a really high quality sound and a really high quality build. Now, the black chrome tips aren't gonna be for everyone but if you like the stealthier look of a darker rear end, then this guy here is gonna be the way to go. The black chrome has a glossy finish with a little bit of reflection to it, but it's black and stealthy. Polished is an option out there as well if you're looking for a more traditional chrome finish, but at the same time, they're dual 4-inch tips, and with the rear exit here, they come straight back under the rear bumper. Now, this one is a little bit more of a street truck look, if you're looking for a more traditional exit style, they of course have the single side exit that would dump out behind your passenger rear tire. There's also a dual rear exit that comes out the side as well, a number of different options to choose from. This one's gonna be worth right around 1200 bucks, so Borla name, premium materials, dual exit, all those things are gonna drive the price up a little bit but you get what you pay for when it comes to an exhaust. Something that is around a premium price tag is gonna have some of the best quality builds and with the Borla name, can't do better than that. Install wise I'm giving it two out of three wrenches on our difficulty meter. You can tackle it in the driveway at home, no cutting, no drilling, no welding, none of that nonsense, it's a direct bolt on. I will say exhaust are a little bit more involved than say a cold air intake, for example. Having a helping hand on deck goes a long way, you can tackle it by yourself but I'll have my buddy Joe help me in just a little bit. Overall, it'll take you about two, maybe three hours from start to finish, I'll show you every step of the process, let's get started. Tools used in the install include an impact gun, couple of ratchets, 13-millimeter swivel socket is recommended, 15, 21 and 15/16 sockets, hanger removal tool is recommended and PB B'laster.First up here I'm going to use a 13-millimeter swivel socket which I definitely recommend. If you have a ratchet and socket that'll do the trick too. We're gonna start back here right behind our catalytic converter where the flange meets, we're gonna disconnect those by removing these two bolts. All right, next up I'm gonna use my hanger removal tool which I recommend picking up, and we're gonna disconnect the hanger from the isolator on the framehere on our passenger side. Next up, we're above our muffler here, right over our axle there's another hanger. Now, when you push this guy out of the isolator, the one by the tip may come with it in which case you wanna be prepared for the system to start dropping down. Either have a helping hand on deck or just be prepared to catch that weight. All right, so we got our factory exhaust off of our '15 5.0 and it's on the ground next to our Borla Touring dual exhaust. I wanna take you through some similarities and differences between the two and I wanna start up front here. Now, for the most part the system as far as design is relatively similar with the exception of the exit style. Now, from the front here you have your flange going into your cat pipe, you have the resonator similar to the factory one. This is a little more free flowing, but the Touring system does still retain a factory-like resonator. Now, if you were to go with one of the louder options that Borla offers like the ATAK, this would be similar but just a straight pipe. Now, moving up you can see the muffler itself is considerably smaller, but it is the Borla Touring option, which means it does have some of the buffering in there to reduce some of the overall ear-piercing noise so that this guy isn't gonna be too overwhelming. Now, the Touring option, like I mentioned earlier is one of their quieter options in their series as it goes Touring, which we have here, then it's obviously the Stinger S-Type which is more of a street exhaust, and then their ATAK which is their loudest of loud option.Moving forward there, you'll also notice that your factory exhaust has one outlet going to your passenger side rear tire, right behind the passenger side rear tire. Your new option here splits off into a dual 2.5-inch pipe that splits for the rear exit. Now, the rear exit there may not be for everybody but if you're looking for the Borla Touring and you'd like this exit style, I personally recommend it with the black chrome tips which you see there at the end, but it's also available with regular chrome as well or polished. Now, the black chrome there is a black stealthy finish with a very highly glossy, very reflective finish on top of that with the Borla name on it with 4-inch double walled slash cut tips. Very aggressive, a lot more so than your factory tip in my opinion. The entire system is 304 stainless steel, which is exactly what you'd expect from Borla, top quality materials in the category. The entire kit up top here is a 3-inch going down to the 2.5 when it splits at the dual. From here we're gonna start installing with the resonator and the flange up front. All right, first step of the install. Let's grab our flange pipe with the resonator. We're gonna feed that guy over crossmember here. You wanna hold this in place, grab those factory bolts and you're gonna put them back through. All right, grab your 13 socket and tighten them back down. All right, next up, we're gonna install our extension pipe here. And depending on your cab size and bed length, this may be a little bit longer, a little bit shorter. I'm gonna slide this guy through the isolator on the frame, but you also wanna make sure you're lining up the pipe at the same time, so it might be a little trial and error. From here I'm gonna grab a 15-millimeter deep socket, and I'm not gonna over tighten this clamp just yet, just gonna get it nice and snug but leave a little bit of room for adjustment. Next up, we're gonna take our muffler assembly and I'm gonna slide this clamp over the inlet there, and then we're gonna slide the muffler over the axle. Make sure you're lining that up to the isolator. Now we can get this clamp nice and snug. All right, so next up before we install our tailpipe, we do have to loosen up this bolt here where the leaf springs connect to the frame here, that adapter. Now, this bracket here is gonna hold a new rubber isolator. So, we're gonna back this bolt up just enough to squeeze this guy behind it and then tighten it back down. I'm gonna use a breaker bar to get this loose. So, at this point I'm gonna loosen up this bolt using a 21 socket and my ratchet along with a 15/16 socket on the nut side with a half-inch ratchet. Now, I also have a pole jack supporting the rear axle because you wanna take some tension off of that bolt there and support it. You can also use a floor jack if that's where you're working. There we go. All right, so now we can tighten that bolt back down. All right, next up, I'm gonna heat this with PB B'laster to lubricate that up. I'm also gonna heat the inside of this rubber grommet or the rubber isolator, slide that guy on.All right, so now we got a clamp on the end here of my passenger side tailpipe, gonna straighten up the muffler assembly, insert that in there and we're gonna lift this guy up and hang it up onto that isolator. All right, so next we can tighten up that clamp. All right, so now we can install the next pipe that would originally go around your spare tire carrier, gonna put that guy all the way up here. Now, it's not gonna stay on by itself, so you wanna hold it up there and grab your gun, should have that in arm's reach, and tighten this down. All right, now we're on the opposite side doing the exact same thing to this bolt here that attaches the leaf spring connector to the frame. Now we can take our tailpipe and set it into place. All right, once it's in the position you like, rotate your clamp into position and tighten it down. All right, go back and tighten down all your clamps once you know you like the position of your tailpipes. That's gonna wrap up my review and install for the Borla Touring Dual Rear Exit Cat-Back Exhaust with Black Chrome Tips available for the '15 and newer 5-liter F-150.
