What's going on ladies and gentlemen, Travis from americantrucks.com, and today we're checking out the most affordable and the easiest to install tail light that you can throw on your '04 to '08 style side F-150. These are Axial's new Black Alteeza Tail Lights. Very cool, very modern tail light, has sort of a Euro old look. Some of you guys might not like that, but again, it is a crowd favorite nonetheless. It does look good in my humble opinion. And again, it comes in at around the $75 price point, making it a heck of a lot more affordable than any of the other options. And that's for a pretty simple reason. We're reusing our factory wiring harness as well as our bulbs and sockets. So basically all you got to do is pop the factory housing out of there, remove the bulbs, put the new ones in. You should be done in about 30 minutes. This is an awesome, easy mod to do it in the driveway. So for that reason, I'm gonna give the install a very soft one out of three wrenches on the old difficulty meter. Now couple things about this light here. Even though it's the most affordable, it's definitely not cheap by any means. Has very nice OEM quality to it. The black plastic that they use inside of the housing actually matches very well with any of the black plastic trim that you might have elsewhere on the truck. We also have a really nice OEM style polycarbonate lens, certainly gonna stand up to the test of time. You shouldn't have any problems with this thing cracking or fading anytime soon. And they even use OEM hardware and fasteners on the backside so it bolts up to the bed quite nicely. You see we have perfect fitment here. So overall, just a nice looking light, heck of a lot more affordable. If you're looking for a replacement from the factory, this is gonna save you some cash and you're gonna be street legal in all 50 states because it's not a tinted or smoke lens or anything like that. It's actually a fully clear lens. Again with the factory bulbs, no problems there. So basically if you're looking for the most affordable replacement upgrade tail light, then Axial has got you covered with the Alteezas. If you like these come back in just a minute. I'll show you what tools you need to dig out of the toolbox and I'll show you how to get these things bolted on step by step. All right, guys. To install our taillights, all you're really going to need as a standard drive ratchet with an 8-millimeter socket. If your factory tail lights are kind of stuck in there, they do have some push pins that are kind of tight, a trim panel removal tool or a flathead screwdriver will help and obviously, an impact gun is gonna make it go a little quicker. All right guys, so first thing we need to do is grab our 8-mil socket in order to disconnect our factory tail light from our bed. Obviously, just pull open the tailgate. If you want to in a pinch, you can actually do this using a flathead screwdriver, but this is gonna go a little bit quicker. There's just two bolts on the inside you have to unseat here. All right now once you pull these two bolts out, you can actually just gently kind of pry on the factory tail light in order to unseat it. It's kind of held in place with some plastic clips but just using some gentle hand pressure, you can unseat them. Okay now all we need to do is actually twist the bulbs counterclockwise in order to get them out of those little locking tabs, you can see we have have these little plastic tabs on the bulbs. We have these little cutouts in here. The new light's gonna be the same process. So just counterclockwise to pop them out then you can discard the factory tail light. All right guys, we got our factory taillight removed. Before we throw the new one in though, I wanted to give you a quick little comparison having them both side by side here. That way you can really see some of the nice upgrades and some of the big important differences here between the two. Obviously, the factory one, the things that I personally hate about this thing is just how red it is, right? It looks really good on a red truck obviously. Any other color this thing's really gonna clash. You got all these crazy reflectors in here. You got a bunch of chrome in the middle. It's kind of a very '90s early 2000s look. It just doesn't look that good. The new one, way more modern. It actually has a lot of depth and dimension to it. Each of the individual bulbs are kind of contained in their own little housings here and they even kind of flared out the housing or the polycarbonate cover, if you will, just gives it a little bit more of a three dimensional look to it. Obviously, we're getting rid of all those crazy reflectors in favor of something that's matte black here and even put a little bit of frosting underneath the polycarbonate on the side here, kinda gives it a very modern sort of luxury feel, if you will. So let's go ahead and pop this guy in here. It's a direct OEM connection. No modification necessary. So we just got to get our bulbs in place real quick. All right, so we're gonna go ahead and we're gonna reinsert our bulbs and they're the same setup here on the new headlight housing. You just got to push them in, line up the tabs and lock them by rotating them. Same thing for our top bulb here. Some of the locking tabs are a little bit larger than the other, so they can only install one way. So you just got to make sure you rotate the bulb until it lines up. Then just go ahead and get those little metal tabs on the back of the headlight housing lined up with the holes in the bed. You just gently press it in place. All right. Once your lights clip back in place, make sure both of the holes line up to secure it to the bed. You want to get both of these bolts kind of hand threaded first. Go ahead and drive them home with your 8-mil. All right guys, so once you got one side done, go ahead and do the same thing for the other side. Then all you need to do is do a quick functions check. Go ahead and put the key in the ignition, hit the brake, have a buddy check out back for you, make sure your reverse lights work and you should be good to go. That'll wrap up this very easy install and quick little review of Axial's Black Alteeza Tail Lights fitting your '04 to '08 style side F-150. Be sure to check them out more on the site and for all things up F-150, keep it right here at americantrucks.com.
