Common F150 Lift Heights

The most common lift heights are 2.5 to 3 inches. This is so F150 owners can fit a 34-inch tire to not only make their truck more potent off-road as well as give their truck a more aggressive look. The stock setup is meant to provide a quiet ride and more balanced MPG. While that’s useful for some, it’s not the best for others. Other lift heights include upwards of 6-inches or more, but these heights are reserved for those using their truck in a purely recreational manner where more tire travel is always welcome. The best lift kit for F150s that see a mix of on-road and off-road continues to be in the 2 to 3 inch range.

Types of F150 Lift Kits

There are two types of lift kits: body lifts and suspension lifts. Either one works just as well as the other in terms of appearances. The difference is how they achieve lift. Body lifts, as you’d expect by the name, lift the body away from the frame of your truck. Suspension lifts increase the height of your truck from the knuckle to the frame. You’ll achieve more tire travel with suspension lifts over body lifts. You can use both to fit larger tires, but generally suspension lifts are the best in that regard. Body lifts are cheaper, so if you’re on a budget, you can’t go wrong with one.
