F150 Bed Liner Materials

F150 bed liners come in a variety of surfaces depending on your needs. Some cover the entirety of the bed (floor and sides) while others serve as a bed mat, only protecting the floor. The most common liners are thermoplastic. They’re cost effective, easy to install, and waterproof. They’re also easy to clean (a pressure washer will do the job fine), but they are a hard material in comparison to say a bed rug. If you’re planning on transporting wood boards or bags of concrete a thermoplastic liner is perfect, but for more sensitive materials a rug might be the best F150 bed liner for you. Bed rugs, as you might have guessed, are a carpet for your truck bed. Exactly like the interior carpet, bed rugs have a plastic, waterproof underside. Otherwise, what would be the point? Granted, bed rugs are harder to clean.

Are Spray in Liners Worth it?

Spray in liners are a permanent solution to protecting your F150’s bed. Arguably the most durable, sprayed liners on average hold out longer than thermo-plastic and bed carpets. They are, after all, very similar to the underbody coatings manufacturers use to preserve vehicles against salt and road grime. Since they’re the definition of perfect fit, you won’t get extra flapping noises that comes with worn out plastic and carpet liners. The main caveat against spray in liners is the preparation it takes to apply them. Much like sanding down and repainting your truck, spray ins require intense cleaning and patience. Should the coats be uneven, the spray in liner might wear out faster than necessary
