What's up, guys? Travis from americantrucks.com, and today we're checking out Axial's Smoked LED Third Brake Light, fitting your 2004 to 2008 F-150. Now, at around $80, guys, this is currently the most affordable third brake light that you can pick up for your truck and I'd recommend it for two primary reasons. Number one being maybe your truck's got some miles on it, maybe that third brake light is a little cracked or faded, maybe it's starting to leak a little bit. You just want to replace it. Number two, obviously you want an upgrade that looks a lot better, right? LEDs are a nice upgrade over those original bulbs. This will actually last for about 100,000 hours, and guys, this is completely sealed and weatherproof. And as far as quality goes, I would definitely put this on par with OEM quality. I'm actually a big fan of the way Axial did the finish on this. The plastic matches very closely with all the trim on the inside and the outside of the truck. It's pretty understated too. I'm a fan of the smoked lens. It's not as flashy as some other options which are more expensive by the way, so overall if you want something that's understated and simple and just looks good, this is gonna be the ticket here, maybe you picked up some tail lights that are LEDs, this'll match quite nicely.Other cool thing to point out when you actually press the brake, these little center bulbs in here which are also LED, is they actually light up. That's really cool because maybe you got a buddy in the back here, maybe you got some equipment in here. Just go ahead and press that brake. It'll actually turn on that white light and it will actually illuminate everything at night, which is pretty cool, but it's not overly bright, so you shouldn't be worrying about annoying other motorists on the road. Now, last thing to consider is the install, right? Anytime you install aftermarket lights, maybe you're worrying about all that wiring. Well, that's not the case here. They did a pretty cool job with that too. All you have to do is pull out the factory bulbs and then the actual pigtail harness for the LEDs in here, they plug directly into those sockets, so no custom wiring required. Very simple install. I'm actually gonna give this a soft one out of three wrenches on my difficulty meter. Guys, you are literally just removing a couple of Phillips head screws, shouldn't take more than 20 minutes. So again, if you want a really cool, very affordable, overall really nice looking third brake light to upgrade your '04 to '08 F-50, then Axial's got you covered. And if you guys need a little bit of assistance or you want to see just how easy it is, stick around and you can actually watch the install. I'll also show you what tools you need. All right guys, like I said, this install's super simple. All you're gonna need for this is a Phillips screwdriver. All right guys, once you found your screwdriver, go ahead and hop up here. Locate your third brake light. It's helpful to have something to protect your paint here. You're gonna remove both of these Phillips head screws on either side. All right. Once you pop both of those screws free, you just want to gently pry up on the brake light itself. Remove it from the vehicle. Go ahead and flip it around. You can see here we have all of our factory bulbs in place. Now we have to actually remove the bulbs from the housing, then we have to separate the bulbs from the harness itself. They're just held in place with plastic tabs, so go ahead and rotate counterclockwise, remove them from the factory housing. Once you've done so, you can go ahead and discard the factory housing. All right, next we're gonna actually remove the bulbs from the housings, you just got to gently pull on them to separate them from the harness itself. Gonna be removing all three bulbs because we're actually gonna be plugging in our new light, our LED harness into the bulb sockets. So once you've removed those three bulbs, go ahead and grab your fog light and plug that into either end of the harness itself. We're gonna be reserving the middle one for our reverse light/brake light. You just kind of press it in place into the contact/metal tabs that the bulbs would normally rest inside. And again, we're only using two of the three original sockets. The third one is not gonna be reused. Once you got both of those plugged in, simple as setting your light into the housing area itself, make sure you line up the little plastic tabs on the inside of the light with the holes on the cab itself, and go ahead and reinstall your factory screws on either side. All right guys, once you got the harness plugged in, do a quick function check, make sure the bulbs are lightening up as they are here, and that'll wrap up this install. That also wraps up my review of Axial's Smoked LED Third Brake Light fitting your 2004 to 2008 F-150. I'm Travis. Thanks for watching. And for all things F-150, keep it right here at americantrucks.com.
