Hey, guys. It's Sara with americantrucks.com, and today we have a review and install of the 5-inch iStep Wheel-to-Wheel Running Boards in Hairline Silver, fitting your '07 to '18 Silverado 1500 Crew Cab. These are perfect for the Silverado owner who's looking to add the convenience of a step to their truck and wants a wheel-to-wheel running board option with a ton of stepping surface. They feature a one-piece design with a wide step that runs wheel-to-wheel for ease of entry, especially if your truck is lifted or leveled like ours. In addition, it adds a bit of side protection against minor door dings. It provides a single stepping platform that is 5 inches wide, giving you more stepping surface than most other options. They feature a single piece 6061 aluminum construction with a silver finish and black non-slip step pads.So as far as price goes, these come in at around $450 for the pair, which is on the lower end, price-wise, when compared to other options. And for your money, you are getting a lightweight aluminum running board with more stepping surface than most other options. And as far as the install goes, I'm giving this one a one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter. It does feature a bolt-up installation on most applications and can be done within one hour. So with that said, let's get into our install. For this install, we used an electric ratchet, but a hand ratchet will work just fine. You'll need a 5-millimeter Allen key or Allen socket, 10-millimeter, 13-millimeter, and 16-millimeter sockets, and 16-millimeter and 13-millimeter wrenches. All right. So the first step in your install is to grab your brackets and get them bolted up underneath the truck. Now, we're starting with the passenger front, and this is a specific bracket, so make sure you have the proper bracket for the proper location, and let's get this bolted up. Line up your bracket to the threaded hole in the body as well as the pinch weld. Now, depending on what your truck is equipped with, you may need to use a clip nut right on the bottom here. Line up your bracket. With your hardware, and a washer, and lock washer, thread it into the threaded hole in the body. Of course, if you do have an opening there, you can use a clip nut instead, and then thread the exact same hardware, washer, and lock washer into your clip nut. With a 13-millimeter socket, tighten it down. And then if you can't get a socket on the bottom one because it is pretty tight to the bracket, you can use a wrench or a ratcheting wrench, also 13-millimeter.Moving on to our second mounting point, you'll see a threaded hole in the body and an opening on the pinch weld. Go ahead and install your clip nut over the opening in the pinch weld. Make sure it lines up so you can get a bolt through there. Next up, lifts as a two-piece bracket, so we're lining up the first part of the bracket. Using the same hardware as the first mounting point, hex bolt, lock washer, flat washer, go ahead and thread it into the threaded hole in the body. Next up, grab the same amount of hardware and thread it into the opening and into your clip nut.All right. At this point you can tighten these down. They're a little bit hard to get to. We're gonna use a 13-millimeter socket for the top one, and a 13-millimeter wrench for the bottom bolt. Now you can line up the second portion of your bracket with the holes in the first one. And what we have is a hex head bolt with a flange nut on the backside. And thread those through. Now, I did wanna point out, there is a bit of adjustability in the bracket here as well as what we've already tightened down. So if you do need to adjust them to fit your steps, you can always loosen them back up and adjust them some more later on. We have a 5-millimeter Allen socket and a 13-millimeter wrench. We're gonna tighten these down.Next up we're gonna install two clip nuts, one in each of the holes, one on the pinch weld, and one through this opening and over top of this hole here. We're using our hex bolts with a washer and a lock washer. Now you can grab your 13-millimeter socket and tighten it down. Now we have to install the second piece of this bracket. It bolts together at the bottom here with the larger hex hardware. We're also gonna be using a lock washer and two flat washers. Thread your nut on the other side. Go ahead and install the second hardware. We are using a washer on both sides with these ones. And, again, there is a ton of adjustability. If you need it, you can always loosen it up later on. We are going to grab a 16-millimeter socket and a 16-millimeter wrench and tighten these down.At this point, we have our running board here. What we need to do is slide some hardware into these grooves. We have six bolts, line them up to the opening and let them slide down the step. Install three in each groove and then we'll line them up to the brackets. Finish installing your hardware. There's gonna be five of these bolts in each groove. Now we can start to line them up to their mounting brackets. Line up your bolts and set the step on top of your brackets. It may take some adjustability to get everything lined up.Once you've lined up your bolts through your brackets using a washer and a lock nut, go ahead and thread on the hardware. And with a 10-millimeter socket, tighten them down. Moving on to your next set of studs, go ahead and thread your hardware over top. This one in the back might be a little bit harder to see, but it's the same process. And tighten these down as well. And finally, the last two on this rear bracket, install your washer and lock nut. Grab your 10-millimeter socket and tighten them down. Repeat that for your middle mounting point. Grab your 10-millimeter socket and tighten them down. And finally, the front-most mounting point. Grab your 10-millimeter socket and tighten them down. Now that your stuff is installed on your passenger side, repeat those steps for your driver's side, and then that is gonna do it for the review and install of these running boards. And remember, for all things Silverado, keep it at americantrucks.com.
