Hey, guys. Sara, from americantrucks.com. And today we have a review and install of the BAK Industries BAKFlip G2 Tri-Fold Tonneau Cover, fitting your '09 through '18 Ram 1500. This cover is constructed from sturdy aluminum, can hold up to 300 pounds and has a great gloss black finish. This cover features numerous weather seals with additional weatherstripping that you can use at the front of your bed if necessary. In addition, it also comes with water drainage tubes to keep your bed nice and dry. This cover comes in at around $900, but for that price, you are getting the best of both worlds. You're getting the security of a hardcover with the added bonus of it folding all the way back allowing you full use of the bed of your truck. And it looks pretty great doing it. I'm giving this install a one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter. It can be done within one hour using simple hand tools. This install is a very easy clamp on, no-drill design, and can be installed or removed with ease. Not to mention, is extremely adjustable and guaranteed to fit snug on your truck. For this install, you will need a Phillips-head screwdriver, a 14-millimeter socket, and a 3/8 drive ratchet. With our rail lined up on our truck and pressed up against the back of the bed, grab your bracket, ensure that the tab is in the bottom slot here, and we wanna position it about halfway down the rail. We're starting midway down our rail just because it is a little bit easier with one person. If you have a buddy or if you want to start the front, you can definitely do so. Once our bracket is in place, grab your 14-millimeter socket and we're going to tighten it down. We wanna just snug rather than go all the way tight just so that we can get this in position and we will ensure that it's in the correct position and tighten it all the way down later. All right. Let's grab our second bracket.Moving to the front of our bed, we wanna take our second bracket and position it about six inches from the front. Evenly spaced will work. Once we have it in position, grab our 14-millimeter and snug this down. Again, just snug enough to hold it up there, and we can tighten it down as soon as we ensure fitment. Grabbing our third bracket, we wanna space it even from our other two brackets towards the back of the bed, and snug this one down. With our driver side rail in place, we can repeat the exact same process on the passenger side. Now, we can check the fitment of our rails with our tailgate. And once it's good to go, we can tighten down the brackets. Now, we can put our tonneau into position on our bed. You might wanna grab a friend for this one. With our cover in place on our bed, we can install the three pieces of weatherstripping that protect the back of your truck when your cover is in the all the way open position. Peel back the double-sided tape. And you wanna position it three pieces evenly spaced at the center and edge of your cover. With our weatherstripping installed, you can see when we have it in all the way open position, it's not gonna damage the back of your truck. If you plan to operate your truck with the cover in the open position, you do need to secure it with these two posts. Placing it against our cover, you're just gonna loosen this knob all the way down and then tighten it back up. And now our cover is secured. Our next step is attaching the clips that hold our cover in the open position. These are going to go facing the back of your bed and right up here at either side. Pulling our cover back a little bit, we're gonna grab the two rivets and place them in the back of the cover all the way through. They should be in there snug but you may wanna just put a hand on the back of it to ensure they don't fall through. Position our clip over top. And they are threaded so you're gonna grab these bolts and a Phillips-head screwdriver and tighten it down. Once both screws are in and tight, we can go ahead and move to the other side. Repeating the process on the other side. Inserting our threaded rivets and screwing on our clip.Next up we're gonna clamp down our cover to the truck. Once we are certain of fitment, remove the backing. And taking our threaded piece here with a rubber grommet on it, we thread through this hole. And we are aiming for this right here. But we will need to get in the bed so we can get underneath this. We're gonna repeat that process on the other side. Removing this backing, putting the stud through our pre-drilled hole. And this is gonna aim right in here. We can now install our knob. First, with our rubber washer, washer, and lock washer over the stud, and then thread our knob on the bottom. We're gonna leave this a little bit loose for now so we can adjust our cover on our bed and then we can tighten it down later. Repeating that process on the driver's side, we're gonna put our washers over the stud and then thread our knob. Again, we're gonna leave this fairly loose, we just wanna ensure that our cover is going on straight. We can adjust this if need be and then we'll come back and tighten it down last. And now we can unfold our cover and ensure it lines up with the rails on our truck bed. We wanna shut the tailgate of the truck first before we pull out our last. Our cover is on and it fits great. So, now we can roll it back up and tighten down those knobs. Pulling down these cables, it will release the latch and the cover can open. These clamp in sections so you can operate this cover as open or as closed as you like. We're gonna open up all the way for better access to those knobs. Now that this knob is tight, we can move on to the driver's side. All right. So, that is gonna do it for the review and install of our BAK Industries Tonneau Cover. Remember, for all things Ram, keep it at americantrucks.com.
