It's Joe from AmericanTrucks. In this video, we're gonna be talking about the Sprint Booster Power Converter, fitting all '12 to '17 Ram 1500s. Now this is gonna be the perfect model for the Ram owner that's just unhappy with the way their throttle pedal feels, they're looking for a small and discrete throttle controller that's going to allow you to make adjustments on the fly.So in order for us to understand what a throttle controller is gonna do we have to go back in time a little bit and tell you how engines used to work in the past. Previously, it used to be a hard connection between the throttle pedal itself and the butterfly valve in the throttle body, whether it was a cable or a linkage, as soon as you press that pedal down, that throttle body is going to open. Not so much anymore, we're in the age of computers now and what happens now when you press the throttle pedal is it sends a signal in the form of a voltage off to a computer, the computer is going to interpret that, send it off to the throttle body and basically the throttle body is going to open accordingly. Now that is all well and good. However, computers are never gonna be as fast as a hard connection and they introduce a little bit of lag. Now that is where the sprint booster throttle controller comes in. What this is gonna do is up the voltage coming out of the throttle pedal to give the illusion of more throttle response. The spring booster is also adjustable on the fly. You can have this completely off, you can have the green mode, that is gonna be your sport mode, you can also have the red mode, that is gonna be the race mode for the most throttle response. On top of that, you get another layer of customizability, each one of those modes has an intensity range from one to nine allowing you to really dial in exactly what your throttle pedal is gonna feel like. There's some other features on top of that as well, this also has a pedal lock which basically won't let the truck rev pass idle for a little bit of extra added security and there's also a valet mode which is gonna cut throttle response in half by about 50%.Something like this is not gonna require a tune, however, if you do have a tune, you can run this alongside of it and no problem. Usually, tunes do a good job with the throttle response already but the option is there. This does not take up an OBD-2 port. Now one thing I do want to mention, and this is going to apply to all throttle controllers and that is you're not gonna make any extra horsepower with something like this. Once your throttle body is open all the way, that is gonna be it, 90 degrees is 90 degrees, it's not like this is gonna open it any further or allow any extra air to get in, this is just going to mess with that voltage and give the appearance of a more responsive throttle pedal.Pricing is gonna be right around 300 bucks. Again, if you're just unhappy with the way the truck is responding to your inputs, something like this can be really helpful. And if you're in that situation, it can be well worth the money. Install is gonna be an easy one out of three wrenches on our difficulty meter, should take you at most 15 minutes. There's no tools required for something like this, no modifications, you don't have to hard mount it and there's a little strip of double-sided tape in order to mount up the switch. So without any further ado, let me show you what this thing will look like.So before we get started here, we're actually gonna need to grab basically this piece of wire that's going to install inline before our throttle pedal, this wire right here in my other hand, this is gonna be for the switch and all we're gonna do is put the two together to plug in the switch. I find it easiest to do this now before we really dive into the footwell. So now we can go ahead and dive into it. This is gonna be our throttle pedal right here, you can see there is a plug on top. All we're gonna have to do to unplug that is depress this release tab, pull straight up and that will pop right off like so. At this point, we can go ahead and grab this again, that is gonna plug into our harness. And you'll hear that click in and then the other end is gonna go on our throttle pedal. You'll hear that click in then you can press down on that red tab to lock it in place. So that's pretty much it for the install. We're just gonna mount up this switch here, it's got a little bit of adhesive on the back. All you have to do is stick that in place. Now one thing I do want to mention is wires. You want to make sure this is up and out of the way of your pedals, you definitely do not want that to get tangled in your pedals. Zip tie it up, you can run it underneath the steering column like we did and that'll put you in a nice spot like this.So here's a quick demo of how this is gonna work, guys. You can see right now, this is the off position or stock. You hit this big button on the bottom here that will put you into sport mode, green light on. You have nine choices here with nine being the most response. Next up we have race which is the red light, that's gonna be even more responsive. Again, you get nine choices. Hit that one more time, it'll go back to off. Now in this off opposition, you could also press these two buttons on the side, that will put you into the menu. And here you have the pedal lock feature and the valet. That's gonna do it for my review and install of the Sprint Booster Power Converter, fitting all '12 to '17 Ram 1500s. As always, guys, thanks for watching. Keep it right here at AmericanTrucks for all things Ram.

      Description

Get a Smoother Acceleration Response in Seconds. Sprint Booster’s Power Converter is a compact device that’s programmed to enhance your Dodge RAM 1500’s acceleration response. It’s also designed to reduce the lag on the throttle, allowing you to reach high speeds smoothly. Additionally, it can work with your automatic or manual transmission with one flip of the switch. Thanks to its construction, your vehicle’s driving performance will definitely improve in seconds.

Sport, Race, and Off Acceleration Presets. This device comes with 3 acceleration presets. Depending on your driving lifestyle, one option will give you the results you need. The sport setting, for example, improves the response by up to 30% while the race mode increases the response by up to 60%.  However, if you want to use your vehicle’s factory acceleration response setting, simply switch off the device and your truck’s factory response is restored.

Programmed With Valet and Pedal Lock Modes. This Sprint Booster device features 2 additional settings, valet mode and pedal lock mode. When the valet mode is activated, your truck’s acceleration is limited and its power and torque are reduced. The pedal lock, however, helps prevent the unauthorized use of your vehicle. In this mode, your Dodge RAM 1500’s acceleration is deactivated and left idle until the correct PIN number is entered.

Installs in Just 1 Hour. The Sprint Booster Power Converter boasts a plug-n-play design. As a result, you can easily connect it to your vehicle’s harness connector. Plus, the kit includes its installation manual, so the task won’t take more than 1 hour to complete.

Application. Sprint Booster’s Power Converter is compatible with all 2012-2017 Dodge RAM 1500.
