Justin: The RedRock Baja Style Upper Grille that we have here in black is currently one of the most popular options for the '06 to '08 RAM owners who might be looking to change up the look of the front end but without spending a ton of dough. Now, the RedRock will combine the durable ABS plastic mesh style build along with that matte black finish and the LED accent lighting offer right around the $200 price point. So as I just pointed out at the top of this video, guys, the RedRock grille that we have here today, again, is easily one of the most popular for the third-gen trucks for the simple fact that it delivers a killer look along with the bonus LED accent lighting all at a very affordable price point. Now, if you browse the site here a bit for a blackout grille option for your third-gen, well, then chances are you stumbled across quite a few. But in my opinion, the RedRock is gonna deliver that very popular combination of the black mesh styling with the LED amber lights. And the 100 plus four and five-star reviews tend to back up that popularity claim. Now, as always, guys, feel free to check out those reviews along with the corresponding customer-submitted images to get a better sense of what this grille might look like on your own rig at home. But taking a closer look at the build, you're gonna notice a very simple yet very durable lightweight ABS plastic construction for both the mesh center along with the surround here, both of which have been finished off in that sleek and stealthy matte black. I do wanna point out, you can separate the center from the surround if you'd like to maybe color match that surround, leave the center portion black, whatever the case, you do have some options here with the RedRock grille. Now, the grille is designed to factory specs using OEM CAD data and is meant to be a complete replacement, guys, meaning there's no need to cut up your factory grille or anything like that. Also worth pointing out, not a huge deal here but certainly worth mentioning, is the fact that with the RedRock grille in place, you're actually opening up the front of the truck a little bit more for better airflow, which should help with cooling on those hot summer days. But on top of that black mesh Baja styling here, guys, the RedRock option is also gonna deliver those three incorporated LED lights, nice and bright, running across the top of the grille here, which I will certainly say increases the look over a standard grille or standard aftermarket grille for that matter and a look that's been extremely popular as of late as you seem to see these lights pop up on a lot of different trucks. Now, those LEDs will tap into the factory headlight harness in your RAM, thanks to the included wiring, and will illuminate nice and bright, again, whenever your parking lights or your headlights have been switched on. But now we wanna shift gears and give you a better idea of just how to get the grille in place on your RAM at home, and site's gonna call this pretty strong one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter, maybe a couple of hours or so to complete from start to finish. But now to give you a better idea of just how this one will go down, here's an AT customer to walk you through the job.Man: All right. As far as tools needed, installation manual with actual colored pictures to help out any questions. You got your flathead Phillips head screwdrivers, ratchet with a 10-millimeter, 8-millimeter extension, whatever type of wire puller, this being a clothes hanger, you actually get a wire puller if you choose, needle-nose pliers will help with removing the screw heads off the old grille and installing to the new one, wire crimps for the solderless wire connections, wire stripper, electrical tape, meter for testing the output for the lights, and you will need with this insulation extra wire because the wire that comes with the grille is not long enough to reach the headlamp.First thing first is release the hood latch and raise the hood. And we'll get the tools going and take this grille off. This is taking your old grille loose from your hood. And then the next thing after we take these out, we'll move to the brace holding it to the top of the hood. And the deal with the new hood as well...a new hood. I'm sorry, the new grille is that it does not come with hardware. So you have to save your factory hardware and swap it all out, put it on the new grille. Riveting stuff. Try not to loose any more of these. All right. So we have this loose? Yes. Now we're gonna take the brace loose. You have one, two, three, four, five, six bolts and it is same 8-millimeter, makes it less confusing that these are bolts and the other ones are nuts, seems to be a simple process. And after these are all loose, be careful that it doesn't fall. Now, I don't think there's much else holding it on, seems close enough. All right. After this one, they could come off. All right. [inaudible 00:08:18] right here. All right: So let me...it will hold. I'm gonna press it entirely. And we're gonna take it down. There it should be. Take it down. And we're gonna set it next to the new one.All right. Now that we've removed the grille from the truck, find a soft area to lay it. You're gonna take these screw heads from its bolts and clips off of the old one. One, two, three, four, five, six, take these loose and clip them into the new grille using needle-nose pliers. Be careful. If they're old like mine, they could possibly break. But the little slot on your old grille has little ears. You just have to press them past the ears to get them off, and it just snaps in. [inaudible 00:09:57]. Be real careful. They come out just like that. And just slide them back in. [inaudible 00:10:23]. There we go. Like that. Let's just imagine that there's two more [inaudible 00:10:54], slide and pretty snug. All right. Next step, we're gonna take this brace loose with the screws, one, two, three, four, five, six. Transfer that to the new grille. Again, this is the 8-millimeter. And I do believe you have to remove the bolts, and there should be a clip on your old grille that you're gonna have to remove as well so that the bolts have something to thread into. All right. Remove the brace and these clips right here. Let's see. Just slide off, slide them on the new. All right. I like my fingernail. Try a flathead screwdriver, see if that works. Two, three, four, five, six.All right. Now, the old one, pretty much done. Put the brace lined up over the holes and reinstall the bolts. Just gonna get them started by hand and come back with a ratchet and tighten them down. Yeah, quick check. They are all tight. All right. Now they're all tight, brace has been moved. We go install it back on the truck just in reverse order. There's the old grille against the new grille with LED lights. All right. Now that we have all the hardware swapped over, brace swapped over, as I said, the next steps are just gonna be in reverse. And that's exactly what the instruction manual says, do the next four steps in reverse. So let's get it back in there. [inaudible 00:17:34] all the screws, bolts. There it is. All right. So the first thing is putting it back on and getting your bolts started in your brace going into the hood. Slide that up. [inaudible 00:17:37] started. All right. You got it started with your fingers, move on to the ratchet. Be careful not to strip them out and see that being an easy thing to do. All right. She is good. Now, in reverse, we are going to put the nuts. Look at all the screw heads that are going through the front of the hood. And all this has been 8-millimeter deep socket. And again, after you hand tight, go back with the ratchet. Just be careful not to strip out. Now, this installation can be done for a grille like this one that has lights with it or without. And if you are without lights, then I do believe you're done right now. But if you have lights, we will run it down inside the hood, be careful not to pinch in the hinge, and then through the fender down to the running lights. That is the next step. All right. Almost forgot. After you put the bolts and the nuts in, don't forget your hood release. Put that back in back up. Now we go to the wiring. Now you're done with the ones without lights. All right. To continue the installation for this grille, we have to hook up the lights, and to do that, we need to run it down the inside of the hood up and out the way, so pinch or snags or anything like that. And that were just long enough to get out of the hood. So we're gonna have to run it down out of the hood and then get some connecting wire to go to the lights. But let's get it down the hood first. Everybody knows the trusty clothes hanger. I'm gonna go halfway that way I know I got plenty of wire to get there. Just find the best way to run it and try to manipulate it out. I had it. There it is. Needle-nose. And what we're gonna do is get you electrical tape. Let's run this back behind here. We'll get...just try to get it up out of the way. There's a hole here. [inaudible 00:26:01]. There's a hole [inaudible 00:26:07] there or what. All right. Here we go. [inaudible 00:26:26] there. Now we're gonna get the electrical tape, drag it halfway down, and then down out that. Let me get my electrical tape. All right. Let's see. Pull this out far enough where you can get some tape around it. Put electrical tape around the wires right on your clothes hanger, fish it back through. Work in the wire as you pull. All right. And see if it's flexible enough to go out the bottom here. [inaudible 00:28:32] again and out. All right. That's all the wire it come with. So you're gonna need to have your extra wire to complete the job. There you go. We're gonna run it right down through here and through the fender. Let me go get some wire and connectors. All right. Again, the wires with the grille only come this far. So you're gonna have to find your own wire to be able to connect it. The wires that come with the grille are marked, one is black with white stripe, one is solid black. I found white, I found black to make it simple. So we're gonna connect these right quick. And then we're gonna finish going down into this crevice in the fender, pull the wheel well so that we can have access to the wires, and hook up to the running lights. Let's go black and white, black white stripe with white. You'll need wire strips and a decent crimper. Let's see, black with white. Always give a decent tug. Make sure it's connected. We'll come back with the electrical tape, tape those up. It is an itty-bitty wire, probably a 22. Again, this is black, and we will go black to black. Tug. There's nowhere else to run it inside. So now we'll move underneath the fender, pull the wheel well, and see if we can get it up to the headlamp. Okay. So under the fender, you'll need a couple different tools possibly Phillips for a couple of the screws holding the wheel well, 8-mil socket, and this should pop out. I'll have to take off the fender guard on mine. All right. So I'll take the guard off first. Always something to catch nuts and bolts. And Phillips. Let's see right here. I think this is [inaudible 00:34:36]. Short bolts will be a little bit handier right here instead of having to turn your wheel. All right. I can do it. Let's see. Oh, and with this come clip. So I just take the clip. It's out of the way. Now, finish taking this out. And put them [inaudible 00:35:56]. And that's it. Let's see. Ah, right here. I thought there was another one. It should come a lot easier than that. All right. That is the... All right. That's out of the way. This cable here is for your ABS brakes. All right. That's out of the way.Now we will shoot it down through the fender. All right. Let's see. If you have a good light, you can see the light coming up through there. And the wires, you can just grab your feet down in. I'm gonna zip tie right here. I'll go ahead and tape it. All right. So I'm gonna go ahead and tape these wires, and then I'm going to zip tie to right here to keep it up and out the way so it doesn't get pinched. All right. It's got decent slacks, there's no bind on it at any time. And we'll run this under. Just make sure it doesn't get pinched anywhere when we put the wheel well back and... All right. We have plenty I believe to run this up to the light to connect it. Oh, let's see, 12 feet under, better yet. What we'll do is we'll pull this headlight out so that we can get full access to the running light. All right. So we've ran the wire from the grille through here down through the fender and pulled out the wheel well and pulled off my fender guard...rock guard, ran the wires through some of the brackets in here to keep it up out of the way. We have it coming down right behind the light. So what we have to do now is take this headlight out and find the running lights by turning the key on and the running lights on or just turn the running lights on to see which one gets fired off and on. So let's take this off. You got a nut back here and you have two bolts or I should say on my truck, two bolts right here, 10-millimeter and a ratchet. All right. I took these two out and a nut down here, and I think there's a little thing that pops in. Yep, this right here fits in that grommet. Now you got your headlight out. We'll go turn...find the running light by turning that on and finding the positive and the negative headlight, headlight. Let's see. Of course, this is an aftermarket light so it may be a little different than what yours is. Let me turn that on and see. Let's make sure...yeah, this is running light but it's also the blinker. So these over here are the running lights. This is on but it's also the blinker for mine. So these are the running lights, so we need to locate those and tie in there. All right. So I have the running lights on. I found out the locations of the running lights on the back. If you have a meter...if you don't have a meter, you can get a test light kind of the same deal just to test current. And you test it on the wire with the lights on versus with the lights off. This one will tell me the voltage coming through it. So red's hot. We're gonna put that on the white wire from the lights, black to black, and we're getting 12.3. So, I'm gonna turn the running lights off, test it again, and if it shows zero, then we know that's a running light. Still runs. And we are showing zero. So that is the running light. We will splice in our new wires coming from the grille into that and then tape it up and button everything back together. This wire here, we're gonna go white to white, black to black. And let's see right here, too much wire. [inaudible 00:47:30] right there. Wire connector. One, [inaudible 00:48:51]. I'll turn the running lights back on and see if the grille lights up. There they are.All right. So now, pretty much done. You wanna take up the wires connection that we got here, put the headlight back on, put the wheel well back in, put the fender guard back on, and she's good to go. I'm gonna tape the white. Now let's tape up the black, just a little added protection from the elements. All right. Now, line up this prong here with the grommet, and you have one up here for the bracket of the headlight. It snaps back in. You got your bolts mounting, 10-millimeter. All right. After you're done up here, you get the fender well. Get that put back in. All right. You get our fender well. So remember I took that ABS wire back on the back with the push connector just so it's not flopping around. All right. You kind of have it set in place. Let's see. Get that one started, the other one. There we go. [inaudible 00:56:15]. All right. Yeah. All right. Now we get the guard, put it up there, put up to hold it. To deal with this is you gotta get the fender well behind the hole in the fender and line up the hole for the guard. You gotta hold your tongue just right. All right. And no more scrooge. We're done.Justin: So if you are looking to give your third-gen an off-road-inspired facelift while adding some accent lighting at the same time, well, then you'll wanna check out the RedRock Baja Style Replacement right here at americantrucks.com.
