Jake: Jake here for AmericanTrucks, and today I'm taking a look at these Amber LED Cab Roof Lights with smoked lenses fitting 2003 to 2018 RAM 2500s. These lights are an excellent way to inject a bit more style into your heavy-duty RAM, while also improving your lighting. A little bit of LED can go a long way, and with the smoked lenses here, you also get a stealthy update to the look of your truck. These are a high-quality, full replacement setup that is certain to appeal to the RAM 2500 owner looking to make a nice visual statement, while also updating their lighting. As you're certainly seeing by now, this is a full set of five lights to replace the stock ones on the top of your cab. And the biggest visual difference here is that these lenses are smoked pretty dark versus the clear ones that come from the factory. Now, these are almost black. They're a little see-through, which you probably can't tell on the camera, but this is gonna make for a very stealthy look. So, if you're going for that full blacked-out style, or if your truck is painted a darker color like gray or black, these are gonna blend in quite well, or they can provide you with a little bit of contrast too if you've got a brighter colored truck. Either way, they're certainly a visual improvement versus those ones that come stock. Not necessarily something that's gonna catch your eye immediately, but something that will still give a nice update to the look of your truck. But beauty is more than skin deep here. Now, under the skin, you've got a set of amber LEDs that are gonna shine much brighter than your factory cab lights, despite those really dark lenses. Now that additional lighting output means that if you're on the job site, out on the trail, or even just on the road in adverse conditions, you're gonna be more easily seen. And being LEDs means that these are also gonna have a very long lifespan. So, that means that you're not gonna have to worry about replacing bulbs, or replacing the whole units at all for a long time to come.Construction here is the industry standard ABS plastic for the housings and polycarbonate for the lenses. They also come with new seals and pads pre-installed on the bottom of the lights themselves, so they're gonna be weather resistant, and they should be able to stand up to some harsh conditions should you encounter any out in your travels.Pricing comes in at just about $200 for the full set as you see in here. Now, that does put these towards the top of the category when it comes to pricing, however, you are getting that quality construction. These are long-life bright LEDs and easy plug-and-play installation.Speaking of which, installation here gets a one out of three on our difficulty meter. It should take you no more than an hour to get these installed. Again, these are a total plug-and-play install, so no wiring or modifications are needed to your truck in order to make them work. Hardest part about it is gonna be reaching the lights themselves, but with that, let's throw it over to one of our AT customers who's gonna walk you through the process.Man: Today, we're gonna be upgrading these roof lights on this Ram 2500. The only tools you're gonna need is a 1/4 inch ratchet and a T15 Torx bit. This installation is pretty simple with factory-installed roof lights. So, let's get to it.Today, we're gonna be upgrading these roof lights on this RAM 2500. This is a pretty easy installation when you have factory-installed roof lights. We're gonna be upgrade them to these nice LED roof lights. So, for the job, you're gonna need this 1/4-inch ratchet and a T15 Torx bit. Each roof light has two screws in it. Just take the screws out.One important note here is if you look at the old screws, you're not gonna be able to see it on camera, but they have a plastic little ring around them, and that keeps the water out. And this kit comes with new ones, so you wanna make sure that we get these old ones off, and get them new ones installed. That'll help with making sure it don't leak. Once you get your two bolts out, you just pick your light up. It's easy as that. Then you got your factory bulb that's in there. Here's your old one.You got to pull your bulb out because we're moving the LEDs. Then you're gonna take your new one. You've got two wires here. You've got your red and your black. Here, your black wire's always gonna be your ground, so make sure you turn your plug to where your ground is gonna plug into your ground on the same side. So, and we're just going to take it, plug it in, and make sure it goes in real good, and then push the wire back down in the hole. You'll line your holes up with your factory holes. All right, so we are centered. Then we're gonna take the little plastic seal around that bowl. We're gonna take that off. And these things are in bad shape because they've been on here for a while baking in the sun. You can hardly even see that little ring, but that's what's supposed to help keep the water out of them. This kit's gonna come with new ones. You wanna make sure you put those on there because that's gonna help with the water. Just take it and slide it over your screw there. Same thing with this one. Take it, slide it over the screw, and then screw it back down. Just get your holes lined up. That will screw back down. We don't wanna over-tighten this because this is, you know, plastic. Just good and snug. All right. And that one's installed. Let's move on to the next one. Same thing. Got your two screws, T15 Torx bit. Just take them out. Same thing on these ones. We're gonna make sure we take them plastic rings off of them. You get them off there. Pick the light up, twist it out, pull your ball out. Same thing, your black wire's gonna be your ground, so make sure your black wire on this one is turned going in the same socket. All right, once you get it plugged in, put your wire back down in the hole, and we're gonna line our holes up again. Take our screws, take our new little rings here to put around the screws. Keep the water out. Line our holes up. Remember, just good and snug. Doesn't wanna be too tight. All right, now that one's on. Move on to the next one.Take your two screws out. Now, them plastic rings so old. This one is just completely gone. It's kind of stuck on that original. This one here is somewhat there. It's not in the best shape though. It's a good idea to, that we send replacements for them. It just cracked in my hands. All right, now we're going to take that one off. Twist your plug out, pull your bulb out. Let's get our new one here. Well, make sure your wires, you got your red and you're black. Make sure your black side, another wire on the chrome is plugged into the belt ax out on this side. All right. We're all plugged in. Shove the wire back down in the hole. Make sure all your wire gets down in there and put your screws down in the holes there. Kind of pick it up, and line it up with the clips there. Just good and snug. Doesn't have to be crazy tight. Oh yeah, we got three replaces. Jump on the other side and get the other two.All right, so take your two screws out. You can see that ring that plastic ring, it's supposed to be a gasket to keep the water out of the threads. You can see how it's just barely, I mean it's in pretty bad shape. It's a good idea to replacement just for that. I'm gonna pull your light up. I'm gonna twist your plug out, and I'm going to pull the bulb out. Grab one of our new lights here. All right, got your black wire. Make sure your black wire on this going on the same side as your black wire and your factory plug. It should've gone on the same side. Put your wire back down in the hole once you get it plugged in. Make sure all that wire gets down there. You don't wanna wire pinched under your light there. We're going to take those plastic rims [SP] off.All right, we're gonna put our new thread gaskets on there, little rubber gaskets. Same thing on both screws. Slide it over inside of it. Just drop your screws down in the holes, kind of pick it up, and you can see where you're screws go. Make them nice and snug. All right, that was good. We're gonna remove our two screws, our T15 Torx bit. This one here, the sun is just, get that little plastic gasket off of that one. This one here is still there. Like I said, you can just grab that little plastic gasket there, and just spin the screw, and it'll come right off. Not hard to get off. Just pick your light up, take your housing there and just turn it off. Take the bowl out. We'll get our new light here. Make sure your black wire's on the same side. All right and get it plugged in just your wire back down the housing. Get your screws, and your two new gasket rings. Just put them down on your screws. Same thing on the other one. The next screw. Take your screws, drop them down in the holes, and you pick up on it, and see exactly where they need to go. There we go. Successfully installed them. They look really, really good. They look a lot better than the factory ones that were on there. They're all faded. They look awesome.Jake: That's gonna wrap it up here for our review and install of the 5-Piece Amber LED Cab Roof Lights with smoked lenses fitting 2003 to 2018 RAM 2500s.
