Hey, guys. So today we're checking out the Proven Ground Low Profile Hard Tri-Fold Tonneau Cover, fitting all '19 and newer RAM 1500s without the multifunction tailgate or the RAM box. Now, if you're in search of a tonneau cover that's gonna provide a lot of security to your bed area from prying eyes or any bad weather, you're looking for some better aerodynamics for your truck as well as a very sleek look and a finished look, then this option by Proven Ground is gonna be a great choice to take a look into.So there are a number of options for tonneau covers available on the page for the RAM 1500. However, there is going to be a lot of choices between soft covers and hardcovers, tri-folds and roll-ups, and so on. But this tonneau cover is gonna be more for somebody who's focused on security for the cargo inside of their bed area. Now, this is going to be made of a very durable aluminum material. So that's going to hold up to any bad weather as well as any prying eyes or anybody trying to get into your bed area. Now, this is also going to be pretty lightweight, so it is going to be easy to operate as well. And what I really like about this system is that it's going to have a locking system on the back here. So if we try to pull up on the tonneau cover with the tailgate closed, you're not gonna be able to get into it, which is something to add when it comes to security. So not only are you getting the security of the lock on the back, but once you open up your tailgate, pull the lock system and fold your tonneau cover all the way up, you will be able to secure it down at the back of the bed area with some heavy-duty nylon straps, giving you a little peace of mind that your tonneau cover is staying in place while you have it open. Now, not to mention, this is going to have a very low profile look and a very sleek look overall, especially with this black powder coat finish on top. Now, not only is that going to be there for looks, but it's also gonna protect that aluminum from any rust or corrosion while this is sitting on the back of your RAM here. With all that being said, this tonneau cover is gonna come in right around the $600 mark. And in my personal opinion for a hard tri-fold, that that is going to be set at a very good price. Now, in comparison to some other cost-effective choices on the page, you'll usually see that those are gonna be for the soft covers or the covers that are just not going to provide as much security as this option will with being a hardcover and also having a locking system on it. Now, in comparison to some other hardcovers on the page, they just may have some extra bells and whistles. The more expensive choices may just be more of a premium option that will include couple of different attachment systems, maybe a different lock on the back, or they may be able to fold all the way up against the cab area instead of rest on the back of the truck or the back of the bed while the tonneau cover is fully opened. Now, if you are not concerned about all of those bells and whistles, you're looking for something that's going to get the job done, be very functional, very easy to use if you're looking to use it on a daily basis, then this is going to be a great choice to take a look into. You can also save a couple of bucks in the meantime. So install is going to be very easy as well. You're gonna need a couple of basic hand tools. I'm gonna give this a one out of three, taking you no longer than 20 minutes to get it installed. So speaking of that install, let me walk you through it right now. The tools that I used for my install were a pair of scissors, a trim removal tool, the provided Allen key, a 17-millimeter, socket, and a ratchet. So for our first steps, we're gonna go ahead and install our bedrails. Now, I would recommend to have all of your hardware and your tools stage because we are going to be inside the bed area. But our first step is just to lay our bedrail on the side and line up our drain at the bottom. So now that that rail is sitting on the side of our cap here, what we can do is grab one of our clamps, hook this onto the top, bring it underneath, and we can start to tighten this down. We just wanna make sure that it's snugged up. We're not gonna tighten anything down just yet. We wanna make sure that that's being held in place. Now we can do the same thing for the front clamp. What we can do now is tighten up our clamp using a 17-millimeter socket. You also are provided with a wrench in the kit, but I find this a little bit easier if this is available to you. You can do the same thing up for the front. So then what we can do is repeat that process on the other side, loosening up our clamp and installing one on the front and one on the back. What we can do next is install our drain tubes here. And I'm gonna pop out this drain plug just using a trim removal tool. Then we can slide our drain tube over the plug on the end of our bed rail here. Once the top is attached, we can put that through and do the same thing on the other side.So now we can take our foam strip and install it on the front of our bed. This is just gonna protect the paint from the aluminum on our tonneau cover. So what we can do is just start to pull this back, line it up with the cap there, and we can continue to pull the backing and lay the foam. I recommend cleaning this with some alcohol or any other cleaner just to make sure that nothing is getting in the way of the adhesive process. You're gonna get a little bit of extra foam, so you will have to trim it. I have a pair of scissors here.So with the help of a friend, what we can do is grab our tonneau cover, making sure that the buckled part and the seal is facing the back and we can lay it over our cab. So after we've placed the tonneau cover on top of our bed area, what you wanna do is unhook the straps on the back and fold it back once. This is going to expose the tie-down hole that we have to attach our bolt and our wingnut to. So right now I'm gonna put the bolts and this foam washer down, and then we can head inside the bed area and secure down the clamp with the wingnut. What we can do now is take our longer bracket that has the foam on the back, hook that onto our rail, and line that up with our tie-down. Then we can take the Allen key that's provided in the kit and tighten that up. This is going to be a set screw to hold the bracket in place up against the rail. Next, we can take the wingnut and thread that into place. Once you do that, it'll start to clamp down the tonneau cover to the bed rail. Then we can repeat that on the other side.So now that our front clamps are installed, our front tie-downs are installed, what we can do is start to flip down. As you can tell, there are foam blocks here. This is gonna support the tonneau cover when it's flipped all the way back, but then we can flip this all the way forward and you'll see that there is a pull here. We're gonna align that up and attach our clamps. What we can do now is install our clamps that are going to allow the locking system to sit in place while your tailgate is shut. So what I'm gonna do is take our clamp and slide that onto our rail, making sure that the set screw is twisted out a little bit. Now, there is gonna be a channel underneath here that this is gonna sit into. Kind of just have to line it up with this pin here, and you can move it forward or back. And it should sit in that little channel and sit flush. So now that that one's in place, we can take our provided Allen key and just tighten that up. And then we can do the same thing on the other side, making sure that that pin is out so we can adjust the other side. All right. So now that it's sitting in the channel with our Allen key, we'll tighten that up. All right. So after those clamps are installed, I would just recommend to pull the cable and check to see if everything is lining up. When you go to put the tonneau cover down, you would just pull the cable and then you're all set to go and close up your tailgate and it'll seal at the top.So that's gonna wrap it up for my review and install.
