Description
Made for Incredible Stopping Power. By cross-drilling and slotting, Power Stop combines the best of 2 technologies. Even if your old discs have enough meat on them after refinishing to fulfill minimum thickness criteria, don't try to reuse them. During a panic stop, mass absorbs heat fast, but on a lengthy downhill or in busy stop-and-go traffic, surface area and flowing air are required to keep the rotors cool. Cross-drilling a disc increases surface area for better cooling, but it also improves braking performance dramatically in the wet. Cross drilling prevents water from accumulating between the pad and the disc surface, causing the pad to hydroplane and drastically reducing braking performance.
Better Quality. Only the finest G3000 grade cast iron from the greatest foundries is used in Power Stop rotors. To boost tensile strength and hardness, most foundries reduce carbon content. While maintaining a 210 Brinell hardness and 250 MPa tensile strength, Power Stop rotors contain 3% more carbon than competitor brands. The microstructure of cast iron is a perfect homogeneous matrix of perlitic and graphite particles. To prevent rust, all drilled and slotted rotors are silver zinc plated.
