How to Install Fabtech 3 in. Uniball Upper Control Arm System w/ Dirt Logic Coilovers & Shocks

READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS THOROUGHLY FROM START TO FINISH BEFORE BEGINNING INSTALLATION! IF THESE INSTRUCTIONS ARE NOT PROPERLY FOLLOWED, SEVERE FRAME OR UPPER CONTROL ARM DAMAGE MAY RESULT TO THE VEHICLE.

CHECK ALL PARTS INCLUDED IN THIS KIT TO THE PARTS LIST ABOVE BEFORE BEGINNING INSTALLATION OF THE KIT. IF ANY PIECES ARE MISSING, CONTACT FABTECH AT 909-597-7800.

OEM WHEELS AND TIRES CAN NOT BE USED AFTER THE INSTALLATION OF THIS KIT. A LARGER TIRE CANNOT BE INSTALLED ON THE OEM WHEELS. WE RECOMMEND AFTER MARKET WHEELS - 17 X 8 WITH A 5.0 BACK SPACE. TIRE – 33 X 12.5 X 17.

VEHICLES THAT WILL RECEIVE OVERSIZED TIRES SHOULD CHECK BALL JOINTS, TIE RODS ENDS AND IDLER ARM EVERY 2500-5000 MILES FOR WEAR AND REPLACE AS NEEDED

SUSPENSION SYSTEM WILL NOT WORK ON VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH FACTORY AUTO RIDE SUSPENSION

1. Disconnect the negative terminal on the battery. Jack up thefront end of the truck and support the frame rails with jackstands. NEVER WORK UNDER AN UNSUPPORTEDVEHICLE! Remove the front tires. 

2. Starting on the driver side of the truck, remove the boltattaching the brake line tab to the spindle. Remove the twobolts securing the brake caliper bracket to the spindle,separate the brake caliper from the spindle and tie it up outof the way. DO NOT LET THE CALIPER HANG BYTHE BRAKE LINE! 

3. Follow the wheel speed sensor wire from the hub to theframe rail. Separate the wire from the upper control arm andseparate the connector at the spindle. SEE PHOTO BELOW 

4. Remove the nuts securing the tie rod, upper and lower balljoints to the spindle. Separate all three joints from thespindle and remove the spindle from the control arms.

5. Drill out the top tapper on the factory spindle to ¾”. This isto allow for the ¾” bolt to pass through the spindle. SEE PHOTO BELOW

6. Remove the upper control arm form the vehicle and save thefactory hardware.

7. Using a die grinder remove the factory droop stop off thecontrol arm pocket.

8. Install the coil over shock. If using Fabtech part #FT825262, torque the upper three bolts to 52 ft-lbs and thelower bolt to 83 ft-lbs.SEE PHOTO BELOW

9. Locate the new Fabtech upper control arm FT20585BK, two FTS1001 bushings, two FT1002 bushings and two FT1500- 6-101 sleeves. Press the bushings and sleeves into the barrels on the control arm.

10. Install the new control arm in the factory pockets on theframe using the factory hardware. Torque the bolts to 160 ft-lbs.

11. Locate the factory spindle, two misalignments FT147, the ¾”-10 x 5-¼” bolt, nut and washers.

12. Reinstall the factory spindle to the lower ball joint. Place themisalignments in the uni-ball and bolt upright of the spindleto the control arm using the ¾” hardware. Torque the lowerball joint to 100 ft-lbs and the upper assembly to 317 ft-lbs.

13. Install the brake line drop FT20313 using the ¼”-20 x 1”bolts, nuts and washers.

14. Reinstall the wheel speed sensor into the hub and reinstallthe factory tie rod into the spindle. Torque the tie rod to 74ft-lbs.

15. Attach the wheel speed sensor wire to the small tab on thecontrol arm using the clamp, ¼”-20 x 1” bolts nuts andwashers.

16. Reinstall the brake caliper and torque to 80 ft-lbs.

17. Repeat steps 3 – 16 on the Passenger side of the vehicle.

18. Install tires and wheels and torque lug nuts to wheelmanufacturer’s specifications. Turn front tires left to rightand check for appropriate tire clearance. Note - somevehicles may require trimming of the front plastic bumpervalance for tire clearance.

19. Align the vehicle and check the brake lines for properclearance by steering back and forth making sure there is nocontact.
