Description
Helps Prevent Engine Damage. The idler pulley is found on all modern engines including the Ram 2500. Its major purpose is to provide tension and guide the engine drive belt. These belts drive various components, such as the power steering pump, alternator, and water pump. In other words, a RAM 2500 Accessory Drive Belt Idler Pulley ensures that everything in the system runs smoothly. Warning signs such as squealing or grinding may be a telltale sign that it's time for a new idler pulley.

Entry Level Install. The RAM 2500 idler pulley is a relatively easy component to install. It only takes a few minutes and required a 13mm and a ⅜” drive. First, start by interesting the ratchet and taking tension off the idler. Next, remove the belt and remove the idler pulley. Lastly, you'll need to install the new idler pulley. This can be done by reversing the steps above. Be sure to route the belt following the diagram on the hood or radiator cover.
