Justin: The Borla S-Type will be for the 2014 through 2018 6.4 HD owners out there looking for a solid increase in volume over your factory system along with an extremely nice 304-grade stainless steel build. Now, this kit will deliver that single-side exit configuration with unique black tip dumping right behind that passenger side rear tire along with the three-and-a-half inch mandrel bent tubing, all of which is backed by a lifetime warranty. But getting into the sound you can expect out of the S-type here from Borla, I think it's a very good one. In fact, a perennial favorite of mine no matter what engine it's bolted up to. Now, the S-type or stinger muffler is still gonna deliver a good amount of volume, but at the same time, it's not gonna be crazy loud, not gonna be over the top, and still hang onto that nice deep tone out of your 6.4 Hemi. So, breaking out my tried and true wake-the-neighbor scale, I have the S-type from Borla coming in at a very soft four out of five on my one to wake-the-neighbor scale. Now, I say very soft because I'm kind of between a three and a four here. I think it's loud, but it's not five out of five crazy loud like I mentioned earlier.Regardless, massive improvement over your factory exhaust in every way. Still very aggressive, but again, if you did wanna go louder, if you wanted to maybe peg that wake-the-neighbor scale with a five out of five system, the Borla ATAK, I would think, is the better choice at the end of the day. But again, the Borla is still gonna deliver a lot of bark here on the outside. But at the same time, no drone, no cab noise on the inside while cruising, always a biggie to point out here from Borla. But for all those reasons and more, it's typically again a system I feel very comfortable with recommending because I feel like it delivers just the right amount of volume, but it doesn't drive you crazy on long trips.Another big reason why I have no problems recommending the Borla is because of the overall quality of build and materials. Now, that does include the T304 grade stainless steel throughout here for things like your extremely large three-and-a-half inch mandrel bent tubing. Your signature free-flowing S-type muffler, which is responsible for shaping that sound, by the way. And then finally, everything is gonna exit out at the very large five-inch tip here in black chrome in that factory location, again behind the passenger side rear tire. Now, that 304-grade stainless steel is no doubt the best at preventing corrosion over the long haul. And Borla is so confident in that material that they do back this system with their signature million-mile warranty. Now, of course, you can't have all of that good stuff premium materials without spending a little extra for a system like this. And the Borla stuff with that being said, is typically gonna be found at the top end of the price range. And that is gonna be the case here with the single exit S-type right around that $1,200 price point. But again, I've always been a big fan of the old saying, "You get what you pay for," and I feel like it certainly holds up here with the Borla system.Let's switch gears, let's get into our install. And the site's gonna call this one a pretty solid two out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter. About three hours to complete from start to finish, which I feel is a bit long. You guys can probably bang this one out in about an hour or two if you're really hustling. Now, this is going to be a direct bolt-on modification here, guys. This does include things like your factory-style hangers, all of your included clamps, of course, which should make for a relatively pain-free day in the garage or driveway. But now let's head out to our shop for our detailed walkthrough and tool breakdown.Instructor: Tools required for this install include an impact gun, a 15-millimeter socket, a cutoff wheel, a rubber mallet, an exhaust hanger remover tool, a pair of gloves, and a can of penetrating lubricant. What's up, guys? Today we're installing an exhaust on our RAM, so let's get started. All right. So our first step's gonna be to remove our old exhaust hangers. You can do that using a 15-millimeter socket and ratchet. However, ours are rusted out, so we're gonna have to cut them. All right. So we have our clamps soaked with some penetrating fluid and then we can go ahead and start cutting. Now I grabbed some gloves just because as we get deeper, you're gonna get some more sparks, flies back, burns your hand a little bit, so you can keep cutting now. All right. And now we're broken through our clamp, so we can move on to the next step. All right. So now we can move back to our next exhaust clamp and repeat that same process. Now that that clamp's broken, we can move on to the last one. And then now we can come back to our third clamp, this is gonna be a U clamp, and we can repeat that same process and cut there. And now we can move on to our next step. All right. So now that we have our clamps cut, we can go ahead and pry back on our exhaust hanger. So I'm gonna use a pry bar, stick it right up in here, and we're just gonna pry on either side of the hanger. All right. So now that we have our hanger off, we can go ahead and pull out the backside of this exhaust. All right. So now that we have our exhaust hanger removed, we can go ahead and pull back this way and we should be able to just snake this out over the axle. All right. So coming back towards the front of the car, we have these two exhaust hangers that we need to remove next, and then one in the back. All right. And now we can remove our back hanger and twist this exhaust out. There's actually one more hanger here at the back of the muffler, so we'll use our exhaust remover tool, get that off, and then we can pull the exhaust backwards. So to install this exhaust system, we're gonna have to reuse our factory front pipe. So we're gonna raise this up, slide it over the edge, and then get our hanger into our isolator. And then once we have that in place, we'll take our 15-millimeter socket to tighten down our clamp. Next, we can install our muffler. So we're gonna be sliding it into these three rubber isolators and then onto our front pipe. I've got one of our clamps on the front. And now I'm gonna take a rubber mallet on the edge of our muffler here, just to slide that forward and into our front pipe. So now we can come back to our clamp and tighten that down with a 15-millimeter socket. Next, we can install our over-axle pipe. So we'll grab one of our clamps, and slide that over the edge, and then slide that into place. And then we'll take our 15-millimeter socket to tighten that down. Now lastly, we can install our tailpipe. We'll slide that onto our over-axle pipe, and then slide our hanger into our isolator. And then we can go back and tighten down our clamp. And now we can slide our last clamp into place and tighten that down with our 15-millimeter socket. So that'll wrap up this review and install of the Borla S-Type Single Exhaust System with Black Chrome Tip, Side Exit for your 2014 to 2018 6.4-liter RAM 2500. Thank you for watching. And for all things RAM, keep it right here at americantrucks.com.
