The BD Power 48RE Transmission and Converter Package with Stage 4 Stock Shaft, ProForce Converter and Tapshifter; $2500 Core Charge Included is a fully matched and dyno-tested set designed for ultimate performance and durability in demanding diesel truck applications. It is engineered to handle the power and torque of upgraded diesel engines while providing reliable street and towing functionality.
_x000D__x000D_Construction and Appearance. This transmission features upgraded internal components including an upgraded valve body, upgraded governor solenoid, upgraded governor pressure transducer with twice the burst pressure of stock (47RE/48RE), and increased line pressure to 190-200psi. It has a modified manual valve for lubrication in all positions, roller Torrington bearings replacing stock thrust bushings, and clutch counts of Direct 6, Forward 5, OD 6, and OD Direct 10. Additional upgrades include a high temperature Energy Raybestos band, billet band lever, billet band strut, a drilled intermediate shaft for increased lubrication, and a rigid aluminum heavy duty transmission pan with 2-quart extra oil capacity. The pan incorporates heat-dissipating fins to reduce temperature and a magnetic drain plug for enhanced maintenance. Also included is an auxiliary full flow filter kit for extra protection and a cooler line case saver. Every transmission is tested on a dyno to ensure quality and performance.
_x000D__x000D_The torque converter features enhanced stall characteristics optimized for street and towing applications, torque multiplying cast aluminum stators, lower RPM response than stock converters, and more efficient operation resulting in less heat generation and better fuel economy. Its construction includes a stamp-forged steel front cover and furnace-brazed fins, and it contains up to triple the amount of lock-up clutch material for increased durability.
_x000D__x000D_Installation. Installation requires moderate mechanical skill and about 7.5 hours to complete, including sensor swaps and cooler flush. No drilling or major modifications are needed, allowing for straightforward fitting to the specified vehicle.
