Hey, guys. It's Joe from AmericanTrucks and today, we're gonna be taking a closer look at the Barricade Rattler Running Boards in textured black fitting all '19 and newer Ram 1500s with the Crew Cab. Now, this is gonna be a great option for any Ram owner out there looking to get a no frills, heavy-duty side step that is going to give you lots of secure area to plant your foot when getting in and out of your Ram.So, what is the Rattler made out of? First off, one thing I wanna mention that's really nice about these, there is no plastic anywhere on the Rattler running boards, completely 14-gage stamped steel in its construction and Barricade even says that this can double as a little bit of side protection. Now, I'm sure this will not stand up as well as body armor would, but the occasional door ding, shopping cart in the parking lot, this is going to add a nice layer of protection to the side of your Ram. It's finished in that durable black powder coating which is not just there to add to the looks, albeit it does give it that black out industrial look, it's also there to serve as a nice layer of protection against the elements. We have it on our red '19 Ram 1500 and it seems to fit pretty well. However, if you did wanna see this in a different color, there are plenty of customer pics on the website for you to look at.Now, one thing I really like about the Rattler is this is going to give you a bunch of area to plant your foot, not like some of those side steps out there where you get an inch or two, basically with a round bar to plant your foot on a plastic step pad. Not this one. You've got a whole six and a half inches of flat area to get your foot on here. It's got textured non-slip grating along the entire length of this thing as well as some drainage, which makes this perfect for any wet or muddy conditions.Pricing is gonna fall right around 350 bucks. That is gonna be for the pair of steps, all the mounting brackets, and hardware you need, obviously. And that's a pretty good price to pay. If you're looking for something that's gonna have full steel in its construction, no frills, give you the most amount of step area, the most amount of grip possible, this is gonna be a great option for you. Great return on investment for your brand new Ram.Now, before we move on to the install, couple of things to mention here. If you have a 2019 classic Ram 1500, these are not gonna work for you, they're only gonna work for the fifth-gen brand new redesigned 2019 Ram as that 2019 classic is going to be a fourth-gen truck, a little bit older. Also, we're gonna be working with our Crew Cab today. If you do own a Quad Cab, there is a version of this available that's a little bit shorter to accommodate for that. The install is going to be vaguely the same, one less mounting bracket, but other than that, pretty similar. Now, with all that out of the way, I'm gonna give these an easy one out of three wrenches on our difficulty meter. You'll see why in just a second. But basically, all the 2019 Rams have studs pre-installed underneath them which are perfect for mounting brackets. At most, this will take you an hour or two with nothing but some basic hand tools in the driveway. So, again, without any further ado, let me show you what tools you'll need and how it's done.Tools we use for this install will include: A ratchet, 10 and 13-millimeter sockets as well as a 10-millimeter wrench.So, here we are underneath of our Ram. And if you Ram had factory side steps like this one had, you'll see these three studs. There's three positions that look exactly like this and they make mounting up a mounting bracket for some side steps really, really easy. Basically, all we're gonna do is hold the bracket onto those, tighten it down with a 13-millimeter nut and some flat washers. We're gonna do that in the middle and at the rear as well. Then we'll pretty much set to mount up our side step. Now, one thing about this is if you've never had side steps on your Ram before, Dodge does paint over these from the factory. So, a wire brush, something like that just to clean the threads up a little bit would be a good idea. In our case, we've had side steps on and off this thing for plenty of videos and our threads are looking pretty good. So, without any further ado, we're gonna grab a bracket, hold it up and tighten it down.Now, these brackets are universal. You see the two unused holes up there. So, these will work with either the driver or passenger side, any position. And just gonna go ahead and put the flat washers on and then the 13-millimeter nuts. Also, these are slotted so you get a little bit of left and right. If you need some adjustment, you can always come back later and loosen these up and then tighten it right back down. And again, 13-millimeter socket, we're gonna aim for the middle of the slot and tighten it down. We're gonna repeat that same exact process for the middle and rear position as well.So, now we have all of our mounting brackets taken care of, we can go ahead and grab one of our running boards. We're just gonna throw it up there. Now, the sides are different as far as the step goes, so you do wanna make sure you have the right one. And the way you can tell, these mounting bracket holes on the back have a little bit different spacing for the driver and passenger side. The instructions go into a little bit more detail about that but the easiest way is in the box this will come in a green bag and the passenger side will come in a clear bag. So, we're gonna go ahead and throw this up on our mounting brackets, tighten it down with the bolt plates and 10-millimeter hardware included in the kit.Now, we're gonna insert the middle and rear bolt plates as well before we put nuts on any of them because we're not gonna be able to lift this step up once we start to lock these in. And last but not least, we're gonna get the front taken care of as well. Now, we can go ahead and bolt this together. And in order to do so, we're just gonna attach a flat washer, lock washer, and 10-millimeter nut to those bolt plates. Now, this one at the rear is a little bit tough to get to. There's a bit of a lip on the mounting bracket here, so I'm just gonna go old school and use the good old ratcheting wrench to get that one and then the one at the front is pretty easy. And we're gonna do the same for the middle and rear.Now, guys, that is pretty much gonna do it for the driver side. Again, pretty much this whole thing is slotted, so if you need to loosen anything up, make an adjustment, now is the time to do that and then you can hop on over to the passenger side and hit the same exact process to install that one.But that's gonna do it for me. It's also gonna do it for the Barricade Rattler Running Boards in textured black fitting all '19 and newer Ram 1500s with the Crew Cab. As always, thank you guys so much for watching.
