Hey, guys, it's Sara with americantrucks.com and today we have a review and install of the Duratrek S6 Running Boards in Black, fitting your '09 through '18 RAM 1500 Crew Cab and Quad Cab models. These running boards are perfect for the RAM owner who's looking for one of the widest stepping services available and enjoys the sleek look of this running board. These running boards provide a step for ease of entry and double as some added side protection against door dings. This running board is 6 inches wide, it's one of the widest stepping services available. And it also features these rugged non-slip step pads for stable footing in all-weather. These running boards are constructed from mild steel with a textured black powder coat finish giving your truck a nice streamlined look. So, coming in at around $225 these running boards are on the lower end price-wise. They are a great addition to your truck for the sleek styling and ease of entry and they're gonna save you a couple bucks over the more expensive options. So, as far as install goes I'm giving this one on one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter. These do feature direct bolt-up install although it may require some drilling of the pinch weld on certain models. All in all this can be done in approximately two hours. So, with that said, let's jump right into our install. For this install you will need an impact gun or ratchet, a 13-millimeter socket, a 10-millimeter socket, a small extension, a swivel extension, a 13-millimeter wrench, and a 10-millimeter wrench. All right. So, the first step of our install is to get these brackets bolted up underneath our truck. Now, these are side and position-specific. So, make sure you're grabbing one that's stamped with the proper side and position on the truck. All right. So, we have the bracket that's labeled for the driver side all the way at the front and we're gonna be aiming for these two holes. Now, if you do have holes like we do, you'll be using a nut plate, but if you have the threaded holes, you can go ahead and just use the bolts. So, grabbing the bolt plate here, slide it through the larger hole up top, you're gonna be aiming for this hole back here. It's a little difficult to maneuver but try to get this bolt through here and then slide one of these retainer plates over top, can spin it if that helps. Now, you can just turn it and drop it down to see where the threaded hole meets this hole and try to get this retainer plate as tight as you can to keep it in position. Line up the bracket starting with the bolt already on there, thread a washer, lock washer and nut over the end. And then lining up the other end of the nut plate, thread one of your larger 8-millimeter bolts with a lock washer and washer through the hole.Next up, grab this support plate. Now, there are different configurations of this one as well so make sure you're grabbing the proper one. It lines up with the two bolt holes on the pinch weld. Grab another 8-millimeter bolt with a washer and another washer and a nyloc nut on the other side. Next up, grab the smaller hardware, the 6-millimeter bolts with a washer and you're gonna go through the front of the pinch weld. And on the backside you're gonna do another smaller washer with the proper nylon locknut on the other end. Now, there should be two holes on the pinch weld. So, repeat that with the second hole. Repeat that process with the center mounting point. One little trick here is that if you thread one of the bolts into this top part of the nut plate makes a little easier to maneuver this through the hole. So, once you have it up there, grab this retainer plate and thread it on. And you can remove this bolt and rotate it down. Grab the bracket that's marked DC for driver center, it should be in the same configuration as the front. Slide it over the stud and using a washer, lock washer and nut, thread them on. Thread in the bolt and hardware through the bracket and into the nut plate. Line up the smaller bracket, make sure you're using a washer and a nyloc nut on the inside. Grab your smaller hardware, slide it through the holes in your pinch weld. At the rear, get the nut plate lined up and repeat the installation process. Grab the brackets that says DR for driver rear, this one is different from the front two, and install the hardware. Grab the support bracket, this one will be different from the front two as well, line it up with the pinch weld and the bracket and install the hardware.Next up, you can grab your step and lightly place it on top of the brackets. Now since it's not bolted down yet you will wanna keep a hand on it for now. Next up, we're gonna grab these brackets and line them up with the holes on the bottom of the brackets we already installed on the truck. Make sure that they fall in place, but they're also grabbing the edge of the step. Once you have it in place, install the washer and nylon locknut. Repeat that process with the other two brackets. Repeat that with the rearmost bracket. With your step in place, grab a 13-millimeter socket and tighten down the two bolts that are holding the bracket to the body of your truck.Next up, grab a 10-millimeter wrench and a 10-millimeter socket and tighten down the two bolts that are holding your support bracket to the pinch weld of your truck. With a 13-millimeter wrench and a 13-millimeter socket, tighten down the bolt holding the two brackets together. With your 13-millimeter socket, tighten down the two nuts holding the step to the bracket. Repeat that process on the center bracket, you may want a swivel to clear this box right here.Repeat that process on the final bracket. All right. So, that's gonna do it for thee review and install of these Duratrek Running Boards. Remember for all things RAM, keep it at americantrucks.com.
