Justin: The LUXX-Series LED Projector Headlights that we have here today will be a premium option for all 2019 and newer halogen-equipped RAM owners who might be looking for a powerful upgrade loaded with a bunch of extra features. Now, these DOT-approved LUXX-series headlights will combine the LED-loaded projectors, along with the LED daytime running lights and sequential turn signals all for right around the $1,000 price point for the pair. Install is gonna get a pretty strong two out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter here guys, take about an hour or so to complete from start to finish. But if you hang with me for a bit we'll walk you through that job later in the video. So, if you didn't know, the LUXX-series is one of a few different options available from a company called AlphaRex and one that I would consider to be the company's middle of the road option between their halogen-equipped Pro-series on the low side, and then you have the company's flagship headlight, the NOVA-series, kind of rounding out the higher end. Now, with that said, I think the LUXX is an awesome option again for RAM owners who wanna grab a quality LED headlight that will kick in some nice little extras but without completely breaking the bank. Now, don't get me wrong, guys, I know 1,000 bucks for headlights certainly isn't cheap, per se but this is a clear-cut example of you get what you pay for.And let's talk about what you are getting here for the money and right off the bat guys, these lights are gonna convert your RAM's dated factory halogen headlight to a modern and extremely bright LED projector. Now, your innermost projectors here are gonna be handling the low beam duties while you're outers here will handle all the high beam stuff. And overall they're gonna produce a light that's not only gonna produce better output and nighttime visibility, but one that's gonna give you a much cooler look as well, especially when you compare these to the boring stock headlights you're gonna be replacing. But the LED projectors are only one part of the equation here, immediately below those will be your LED daytime running lights kind of running horizontal in this T-shape. Now, as the name implies, these LEDs will illuminate with a bright white running light whenever the vehicle is switched on or whenever your headlights have been switched on. And I personally think they help contribute to a more modern and even a more aggressive look. Now, I do also wanna point out that while Alpha doesn't disclose the exact color temperature of the LUXX-series here for the LED lights, it does appear that both the daytime running lights and the headlights appear to have that same color temperature, which at the end of the day will make for a much more consistent look. Next up in the lighting department, the LUXX-series will also feature built-in sequential turn signals on the bottom portion of the housing here that will illuminate thanks to your included amber LEDs.Now, the addition of the sequential turn signals, I feel just kind of raises the bar a bit and it adds to the overall package. Now, speaking of adding to the overall package, we have AlphaRex's signature addition or additions I should say, and that is the startup pattern every time you lock or unlock your truck, which is basically just gonna flash a combination of the running lights in the turn signals in a very cool pattern. And outside of the Morimoto stuff guys, I think the AlphaRex lights such as the LUXX options here are one of the only options to give you that kind of functionality. Now, all of that lighting both primary and secondary have been loaded into a very nice black polypropylene housing and then are topped off with a unique polycarbonate lens that actually has some baked-in anti-fog agent which is gonna help prevent these things from fogging up in bad weather while also at the same time preventing any yellowing or fading over the years.Last but not least, guys, these have been given both the DOT and SAE stamp of approval, which does make them legal for use in all 50 states. But now we wanna segue into the installation and show you just what it takes to remove the stock headlights in your RAM and get the new LUXX-series projectors in their place. So, without further ado, check out our detailed walkthrough and tool breakdown now.Man: Tools used for this installation, 3/8 electric impact gun, clip removal tool, crimper and stripper pliers, quarter-inch drive ratchet, quarter-inch drive extension, 10-millimeter, and 8-millimeter sockets, Torx driver, and quarter to 3/8 adapter. The first step we're gonna do is we're going to remove the 12 clips that hold the upper rad cover on. We're gonna use our clip removal tool to take them off, then the rad cover will come off pretty quickly and easily. So, to remove these clips, you're gonna take your clip removal tool, you're gonna slide it under the first top and pry up. You go to pull this piece out. Then you're gonna put your clip removal tool underneath the bottom piece and pop it out. They come out pretty simple. Now that we got our 12 clips removed, we should be able to lift up on the rad cover. Pretty simple, and it's removed. So next we're gonna remove the front plastic cover that's underneath the headlight. It's held on by four 8-millimeter screws that we're gonna remove with our 8-millimeter on the ratchet. Behind there, there's gonna be a 10-millimeter. We're gonna use our different 10-millimeter socket here. To get that, we're gonna pull the plastic cover down and that will get us access to the back there. Now that we removed our four 8-millimeter bolts, we're gonna be able to start pulling this back, move the inner fender well either way.Up inside the fender, there is a 10-millimeter bolt, we're gonna use our ratchet and a 10-millimeter to get this bolt out, then this cover will start coming off, it'll just pop right off. Now that I got it loose, I'm gonna try to take it out with my fingers. Now that we removed the 10-millimeter that was up inside the wheel well here, we're gonna be able to grab this, just gonna pop just like that. The front is just pushed in with push clips, you're just gonna grab a hold of it and remove it, and we're gonna repeat the same procedure on the other side.So now that we removed the rad cover, two side pieces, we're going to remove the grille. This grille can come out in one piece, There's three 10-millimeters on this side, three 10-millimeters on that side, and eight across the top that we're gonna be removing. Once we get those out, we're gonna be able to grab the grille, lift it up a little bit, and pull it right out in one whole piece and then we can get started on removing the headlights. So now that I got my 10-millimeter, I'm gonna remove these two screws here, they're 10-millimeter plus the four up top and the two on the other side. Now that we got all eight 10-millimeters removed, we're gonna start removing the three 10-millimeters on each side, and then we'll lift up on the grille and remove the grille. Now we're going to remove the three 10-millimeter bolts underneath the headlight. There's three over on this side and there's three on the driver's side. We'll take them off and then the grille will be ready to pull out. Now we'll repeat the same procedure on the other side. And now that we got the eight 10-millimeter bolts on the top and the six on the bottom underneath both headlights, now we can lift up on the grille, get it off the stud, do the same to this side. And once we have that off, we'll be able to grab a hold of the grille and remove the whole grille section in one piece. Now to remove the headlight, there are two 10-millimeter bolts, one on the top, one on the side. And we have the plastic clip that we're gonna use our clip tool to get it out and then we should be able to remove the headlight. Now we're gonna remove the headlight. To do that, we're gonna need our 10 millimeter, our clip tool. You have a clip on the back of this and a 10-millimeter here and a 10-millimeter on the side. Once we get those two out, we'll take our clip tool, pop the center of the clip out, get the bottom piece out.Now that we have our two 10-millimeter bolts removed, we're going to pull the headlight out. There's two wiring harnesses, one down here, pop this one off, and one in the back, which we will twist, comes loose and your headlight's removed. So now that we got our headlights removed, we're gonna start by installing our new headlights. First thing we're gonna do is the old headlights have this black plastic piece that hangs down underneath. The new ones that we have here do not have it, it is removable. We're gonna transfer this piece on the bottom of our new headlights on both of them. I'm gonna show you how to do that, there's some Torx screws that hold it on. It's pretty easy. Let's do it.We're going to start by taking our bottom Torx off. Now I'm gonna take, there's one right here that we have to remove, and the last one is right here. Now that we have them all off, plastic piece will just slide right off. And now we can install it on our new headlight. Now we wanna install our plastic piece, push it down a little bit to get the screws started. I'm just gonna get them started. Now that we have our plastic on, I'm gonna start our bottom bolts or screws. I'm gonna get them started. Now that I got them started, I'm gonna start this one on the side over here. Now the last screw we're going to put in for our plastic is this one right here, snug it up.Now that our plastic is installed on the bottom of our headlight, we're gonna go and start by reviewing the wiring harness that comes with this. We're gonna run it in the truck, I'm gonna show you how to do that, hook it all up. Then we'll get ready to reinstall our new headlight. So, we're gonna start with installing our harness that came in our kit. We're gonna take our red hot wire and our black and our gray, I'm gonna lay them over here by the fuse box. And then we're gonna run the other red wire that's attached that's longer. We're gonna run that in our vehicle here and tuck it in and this is gonna come over to the passenger side headlight. Now, on your vehicle, if you wanna use some wire ties, tie this up real nice. Make sure it's not nowhere where it can get pinched or have any heat to it. I would make it very nice tight, tie it up.Now we'll go over here and I'll show you the installation of the red hot wire, the black wire and the gray wire. Okay, so our wiring harness comes with a red hot wire, a black wire, a gray wire and then your other two red wires which are these here. Now, these wires are gonna go down and we're gonna fish them through and come out by our headlight because they're gonna plug into our headlight. Then we have our gray wire again, black and red. Now, the red hot wire is gonna go to your battery. I already got this loose. So I'm gonna take this nut off here and I'm able to stick my red hot wire behind the terminal like that. And then there are grounds on the chassis here that are already loosened. Then we're gonna take our black wire and tie it and put that to our terminal and then we will snug them up. Now if you wanna run your wires and wire tie them up, which makes for a nice installation. Once I get these snugged and I get this gray wire on, I will tie these up then. So we hooked our red hot wire to the battery, our black to the ground over here, we have them tight. Now, the gray wire is gonna go in your fuse box. The manufacturer recommends fuse number 38. We already have a fuse tap installed in there, you can get them at your local Advanced Auto store or any auto parts place provides them. You wanna take your gray wire, hook it up into your connector, and take our crimpers. Crimp the wire and then we will tuck this down into our harness and tie it all up and then we will start installing our headlight. So, on these headlights, we're not gonna use our marker light that we disconnected from our old headlight. We're gonna take the red wire that we laid down on both sides and plug that in to the white wire here. There's a little plastic sleeve that goes over top of it. Once we got that wire hooked up, we're going to install our harness, and you hear a click in into place and then we're able to reinstall our headlight and get it back into place. We'll reinstall our bottom 10-millimeter, get it started, and we line the hole up for our top 10-millimeter. This is for top 10-millimeter, make sure you line the hole back for the plastic clip that we'll be installing them, tighten our bottom 10-millimeter. Now we'll reinstall our plastic clip. Now I'm gonna install my plastic clip up top. And now you're gonna wanna repeat the same procedure on the other side. Now that we got our headlights in place, our wiring harness all hooked up, now I'm going to reinstall our grille. Goes into these clips up top. All right, now grille's back in place. Now, I'm going to start assembling the three 10-millimeters on this side and tighten them up. And then we'll repeat that step on the other side. Now that the grille is in place, I'm going to reinstall our three 10-millimeters on the bottom. Once I get these three installed, then we just repeat the same process on the other side. Now we're going to reinstall our upper 10-millimeters, there's eight of them. We're gonna start by starting these two here, now we'll go with the four on top of the grilles or the rad support. Now we'll do the two above the headlight. Now we'll start installing our side trim panels in our inner wheel well and do the other one and we got this installation just about wrapped up. So now we're gonna install our bottom trim panel, it pretty much just falls into place like that. Now we will put our 10-millimeter up in our wheel well that holds this piece in and then reinstall our three 8-millimeter screws. Now we'll start by reinstalling our 10-millimeter and tightening it up. Now that we have that tight, we will reinstall our wheel well and finish by putting our 8-millimeter screws back in and then we will repeat the same procedure on the other side. Now that we have all three of those tight, our front plastic pieces put back in, headlight is done, grille is in, we'll finish off by putting our rad cover on and then our installation of our headlights is finished. Now, you just wanna repeat the same procedure on the other side. Now we'll install our rad cover, it's in place, put our pushpins in. The last one. Now that our rad cover is back in place, everything's secure, our headlight installation is complete.Hey, guys, that wraps up our review and install of our LUXX-Series LED Projector Headlights Black Housing, Clear Lens for '19 to '21 RAM 1500s with Halogen Headlights.
