Hey, guys. It's Sara with americantrucks.com, and today we have a review and install of the HDX Drop Nerf Side Step Bars in Textured Black fitting your '19 and newer Ram 1500 Crew Cab or Quad Cab excluding the Classic models. These are perfect for the Ram owner who's looking for a drop step that hugs the rocker panel and gives you that streamlined look. These step bars make getting in and out of your truck a breeze, especially if it's lifted or leveled, and they add a bit of protection to your rocker panel as a bonus. Their one-piece construction hugs your rocker panel as I've said before, getting you that streamlined look, and you still get the convenience of a step. These steps feature a steel construction with a textured black powder coat finish, and they also include removable stamped steel step pads. So, as far as price goes, these come in at around $625 for the pair. And for your money, you are getting the durability of a steel step with a sleek, streamlined appearance. So, as far as install goes, I'm giving this one a two out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter. It does feature a direct bolt up install that can be done within one hour. So, with that said, let's get right into our install. For this install, you will need a ratchet and a 13-millimeter socket. All right. So, the first step in our install is to grab one of the brackets and also one of these cross brackets. We're gonna get them installed underneath our truck. So, because we are starting on the passenger's side, we have the bracket labeled for the passenger's side. We also have to add one of these cross brackets as well. And to do that, line it up with this hole here. I'm gonna grab one of the bolts. This should hold itself in place. Then we're just gonna install this with a washer, lock washer, and a nut just loosely for now and we can tighten these down when we tighten the rest of them. All right. Now that we have all three mounting points, we're just gonna line it up to the three studs on the truck already. Now, there is a ton of adjustability here. There is even a little adjustability in that center point that we have. So, if for some reason this does not line up, you can always give it some more adjustment later on.Next up, we're gonna install a washer, a lock washer, and nut on each of these studs. Now, you'll definitely be able to see these two, you might not be able to see the far one as nicely, but they all go on the same way. Next up, with a 13-millimeter socket, go ahead and tighten these down. Moving on to the center bracket, this will be labeled C. We're gonna install this cross bracket first, line it up, install the bolt in the back, then install your washer, lock washer, and nut. Again, we're just gonna leave this snug, but not tight for now so that we can line it up and line it up on the truck. This one also has a lot of play here. Just keep that in mind if for some reason your bracket does not line up. Now, go ahead and install your washer and lock washer and nut on each of the studs. It might be hard to see this one up top because of how close it is to the bracket. But again, this is the exact same as the first one. All right. Now, you can grab your 13-millimeter socket and tighten them down.Moving on to the rear most bracket, this one is labeled with an R. Repeat that process of installing this cross bracket. All right. And once you have that installed, line up each of the open holes with the studs on the truck. And you can see the level of adjustability we have here, which is really nice. Install your washer, lock washer, and nut on each of the studs. Grab your 13-millimeter socket and tighten them down. All right. So here are the recess pockets where the brackets go in. You can see the two threaded holes that we'll use to attach them. All right. So, at this point, we can grab our step and hook it onto the brackets. These back two have recess holes in the step and the front one just busts up against our bracket. Line up the holes in the step. And what we're gonna do is hook the top part and slide it into place. All right. Line up your step with the holes on the bracket. Again, if you need to loosen up some of the nuts we put on earlier to get them to line up perfectly, go right ahead. Thread in each of these bolts with a washer and lock washer, then grab a 13-millimeter socket and tighten them down. All right. Install the two bolts in the center bracket as well. Grab your 13-millimeter socket and tighten them down. All right. Now, we're moving to the final bracket in the back. Grab your hardware, line up the bracket to the holes in it. If you can't get your fingers in there, you can use a socket. And go ahead and install your hardware. Grab your 13-millimeter socket and tighten them down. All right. So, that is gonna do it for the review and install of our side steps. And remember for all things Ram, keep it at americantrucks.com.
