      Video Review & Installation

Jake: Jake here for AmericanTrucks. And today, I'm taking a look at the Raxiom LED Tail Lights with Black Housings and Clear Lenses, for 2007 to 2008 RAM 1500s. If your RAM is in need of an update to its tail lights, whether for looks, safety, or just for the heck of it, these lights from Raxiom might be right up your alley. They combine cool stealthy modern looks with the convenience and performance of LEDs at an affordable price, so a great option for your truck. Now, this generation of RAM was known for its style when it was introduced, and what better way than to give it a nice update than to change out a set of tail lights? Now, these tail lights from Raxiom bring a cool new dose of style to the table. But style isn't the only benefit here. These feature a bunch of LEDs to serve as your brake running and turn signal lights. They have this modern look to it with each bulb being shone off individually here. Now, these all combined to give off a much brighter swath of light than your factory incandescent bulbs. So, your truck is gonna be much more visible day or night. Now, visibility is helped here too by the clear lenses, meaning that there's no tint or color that the lights have to cut through. But you still get that stealthy, blacked-out look here with those black internal housings. So, you have the look without some of the detractors of having tinted lenses. Now, the housings here are also weather-sealed to protect against dirt and moisture, and these are constructed to OEM standards. So, the fit is good and they're gonna last a long time. They're also DOT compliant, making them fully street legal as well. Now, of course, being LEDs, these are gonna last a lot longer than your traditional incandescent bulbs, and there's no need to worry about bulb replacement with them. Though these do retain your incandescent bulbs for the reverse lights down here. Though that's just gonna add up to a bit more cost savings for you.And speaking of cost, these do come with a pretty reasonable price tag running you about $200 for the set. Not bad, in my opinion, for some LED lights. You do save a bit versus some more expensive options in the category like with those reverse bulbs we were just discussing a moment ago. But if you like the style and you wanna upgrade it for the price, I really don't think you can go wrong here. Installation comes in at an easy one out of three on our difficulty meter, and should only take you about an hour or so to complete this job. This is a simple plug-and-play installation, no wiring or funny business is required. And to show you just what's involved, let's throw it over to one of our AT customers.Man: I used a T25 star bit for this. T25 just to show that this is really all you need in order to install these tail lights. We're installing the Raxiom LED tail lights with the black background and the clear casing. You're gonna start with the two bolts on one of the tail lights. There are the ones right here and here. There are the T25 star bit. You're just going to unscrew the two of these all the way. Pretty short. There's one. Make sure you hold the tail light because it will fall. Two. The tail light just pulls out. What you're going to do next is you're going to...there are two tabs. There's one tab there, and one tab down here on the bottom. You're going to pinch those to pull out the light. But what we're going to do to make our lives a little bit easier is we're gonna actually twist these to take out the light first, press them down like that, place that to the side, same with the bottom one, place that to the side. Now we have the tail light and set that down. But what you'll want to grab is this little tab here on both sides. These here, these are what's going to hold the tail light against the truck thing here, the truck bed. Pop in just like that on both sides, like that. And now what we're gonna do is we're actually gonna take out these lights here, and now that these are a little bit easier to access. We are going to use the same screwdriver just to push down on these tabs here. And that should be able to pop that one and then do this side. Look at that free there. And you only need to do this with the top one for these types of tail lights. What we're gonna do next is we're going to take our left side tail light. We're going to take this box and we're just gonna kind of see how it's gonna fit in there, like that. And so, what we're gonna do is take these two plugs here, going to line up the notches on the inside with the notches here. We're just gonna plug this right in, like so. There we go. That's all in. Make sure you squish it side to side to make sure that's all in. What we're gonna do next is we're going to take our lower light that we left in. I'm going to put it in here and make sure you get it in the right way. There you go. You're gonna twist it. Oh, like that. And that's not coming out. It's gonna stay there. This one also clipped in, so you don't have to worry about that. Then what we're gonna do with this is I'm going to peel the red right here, which is going to make that super sticky. We're going to just try to get all the dust off here. And we're gonna stick this right in here. Hopefully, that will not hit. Then you're gonna take these tube things that we used before and we're gonna pop them into those plastics. I actually put these in the wrong way, it used to go on the bottom one. You're gonna put them into these plastic pieces here. The little bulbs are gonna kind of have to...and you might have to adjust this a little bit so that this brick actually fits. What I'm actually gonna do is down here underneath the body, there's a little bit of space where the tail light actually won't be, and I'm gonna actually stick it down there like that. Make sure that's on there. And what we're gonna do now is we're gonna continue here. We put all these cords and make sure that they're not gonna get stuck in between anything. Make sure they're behind like that. Take these two bulbs, we're gonna stick them in the plastic area. Tuck them in. And what we're gonna do is now we're gonna take these same screws here. We're going to then line them up with the holes in these tail lights and just screw them in like we did to take them out.Since these are new, these are gonna be a little bit tougher to get in. What you're gonna do is you're gonna actually line it up with these hooks here on the inside. And what you'll be doing is basically just screwing that in there. But sometimes they can be kind of finicky. They don't work completely right. But if you just take the hole there and make sure you line it up, it should go in just fine. Just like that, that top one is in. We're gonna do the same one with the bottom here. We're gonna line up the hole and screw it in just like the last one. And these are gonna be a little bit tough just because they're new. All right. Now, we got that tail light in. Looks good. All right. Now we're going to do this on the other side.Jake: That's gonna wrap it up here for our review and install of the Raxiom LED Tail Lights with Black Housings and Clear Lenses, for 2007 to 2008 RAM 1500s. Thanks so much for watching. And remember, for all things RAM, be sure to keep it right here at americantrucks.com.
