      Hey, guys. Adam here with americantrucks.com. And today we're taking a closer look at and installing the JMS PedalMAX Throttle Enhancement Device, available for all 2019 and newer RAM 1500s, excluding the EcoDiesel. You should be checking this out if you're looking for a quick and easy device that's gonna help improve your throttle response and acceleration by giving you complete control over how sensitive your pedal is to make sure you're getting off the line as quickly as you want. Now, this particular device here from JMS is gonna help reduce the drive-by-wire delay. Now, the drive-by-wire delay for those of you who aren't familiar is essentially the delay in time between you hitting the gas pedal and your throttle body opening up and your truck going off the line. Now, having that drive-by-wire delay being altered by this device here is something that's gonna be extremely easy to do. This device is also gonna use this quick controller here that you can mount wherever you like and it has a knob that twists with markings at 25, 50, 75, and 100, each one of those marketing the percentage at which it's increasing your throttle response time. So you can increase it 25%, 50%, 75%. You can even adjust it to 100% to completely eliminate the drive-by-wire delay. Now, that's gonna give you the best throttle response and acceleration, making your pedal very sensitive. That's first off something to exercise some caution with, but it is worth noting that that guy can really make a difference to drivability.It's also worth noting that a device like this, a throttle response device, isn't going to add any horsepower torque, it's simply removing delay timers for your acceleration. So it can make it feel like you have a more peppy truck, something that's gonna wake it up a lot more. This is especially useful for guys out there with a lift kit and some larger wheels and tires that can otherwise make the truck feel a little bit more sluggish. If that's the case for your truck, this is a cost-effective way to give you a little bit more response.This device from JMS couldn't be any easier to use. All you're gonna do is plug it into the throttle pedal connector underneath your dashboard and then you can mount this device controller, the control knob wherever you'd like in the driver seat. Now, I will say that this controller here does have two holes on either side so you can screw it or drill it into any location, but it also comes with little Velcro strips with 3M automotive bonding tape on the back, which is gonna help you stick it in a impermanent solution for the guys who may wanna disconnect it later on and return it to stock or just be able to move it around as they please.Now, this control knob is honestly my favorite part. I already explained to you the different percentages here, but what I really like about it is how smooth the operation is. It doesn't feel clunky and also going back to zero, which is your completely stock pedal position, clicks in so you know exactly when you're in the stock position. There's no guesswork involved. Some of the other devices out there are digital that you have to keep clicking buttons for, which you can get a little bit annoying, cycling from like one to nine sensitivities, for example, in six different modes. This keeps it simple. It's very straightforward. And if you wanna put it in stock, you rotate it all the way and you can hear it click into place, that way you know it's stock.One thing I will say that this option does not have that some of the other options do is alternate modes like a valet mode or an eco mode to help with gas mileage and when you're handing the keys off to someone else, you don't want having full throttle. So that's not the case here. This is really just an increase in sensitivity instead of giving you the option to decrease it in certain situations like highway driving. So if you want something with a little more versatility, there are other options out there. But I do like this kit for its ease of use and its diagnostic LEDs on the device itself, which can help you with any errors.This kit does come in right around 300 bucks, making it a nice premium option in the category. And the install gets one out of three wrenches on our difficult to meter. Anybody can tackle this with about 15 to 30 minutes in the driveway at home. And I'm gonna show you guys every step of the process. What do you say, we get to it?All right. So for the first step here, you're gonna crawl under your driver side dashboard and take a look at your gas pedal. Follow the gas pedal up until you see this textured connector here. These little fins at the front is a locking tab. For this, we're gonna pull it straight forward toward us to disconnect the locking mechanism. Once that's forward, you're gonna push up on the connector to disconnect it. Take the wire included in your kit here that also has that same locking mechanism, except this time it's a little bit brownish. You're gonna plug that into that factory location, that stock location. Once you have that in, push the locking tab in to lock it in place. Take the factory connector that we just disconnected and you're gonna plug it into the open harness also up there on your JMS connector. You're basically gonna take these two and plug them in together. All right. Once you plug these in, make sure they're connected, push in into the factory locking tab. Perfect.All right. At this point, we're gonna feed our wire for the control knob down through the middle section of our trim. Now, right under the steering wheel, this piece of plastic can drop down. So right under the steering wheel, you're gonna put your fingers here on the edge. You're gonna pull straight back and it disconnects. That gives you a straight shot down toward that pedal. Take the plug side of your control knob and just feed it down through there. And you can even go up from underneath to pull it for the rest of the way. You're just gonna pull out as much as you need, which really isn't that much so that the control knob comes up from the top. All right. From there, you can snap that back into place. I like to typically have the control knob here on the left side where our headlight switch is, that way it's kind of all in one place there. But you can feed it wherever you like. I'm gonna leave it here on the left. So why don't we head underneath and plug in that connector.At this point, go back to the JMS throttle enhancement device, find the small harness coming off the side of the device and you're gonna plug in at the other end of that throttle controller knob. All right. At this point, guys, I recommend taking all of the excess wiring along with the zip ties included in the kit and zip tying all this back in a secure location away from any moving parts and away from your pedals. A good spot I recommend is going right to the right, up into the right of your gas pedal, tucking it right behind where your USB connectors are. There's a good place back there to zip tie it. You can't see it on camera, but it's something I recommend going to just so it's not in your way of your feet.All right. At this point we can secure the control mount. Now, like I said earlier, there's two holes here if you'd like to drill. I try to avoid drilling into the interior trim panels as much as I can, but if you want a permanent solution, you can drill that in. I recommend, again, this location here directly to the right of your headlight control knob. I think that's a good spot for it. If you're gonna do it here, make sure that there's enough wiring coming down that when you drop the steering rack adjuster, it doesn't hit the wiring so we have enough clearance there. All right. I'm gonna go with the impermanent method of the Velcro strips included in the kit. Peel off that sticky backing. I'm gonna apply it to the back of the control knob. Then I'm gonna peel off the other backing and stick it to the trim. All right. Put firm, even pressure, get it to stick, test out that knob itself. You can hear the click for the stock mode and you're good to go.All right, guys, before we get going, it's worth noting here that if you do use the impermanent method of the Velcro strips, you have the benefit of being able to take it off, use it wherever you want, and stick it right back on. Now, if you're gonna pick up the JMS PedalMAX option for your '19 and newer RAM, it's also worth noting that you can set the control knob to where you want it. So if you want it at say, 50%, and you know that's where you like it, you can even unplug the control knob from the device and set it into your glove compartment or your center console and it will stay in that mode as long as you have that turned on and then you unplug it. If you wanna go back to stock, plug it back in, put it back to zero, and then you can unplug it again. You can also stack this onto other tuners if you're looking to pick up other devices later on.And with that said, guys, that's gonna wrap up my review and install for the JMS PedalMAX Throttle Enhancement Device.
