Hey, guys. It's Sara with americantrucks.com and today we have a review and install of the Flowmaster Outlaw Direct-Fit Muffler, fitting your '19 and newer Ram 1500s excluding the classic models. This is perfect for the Ram owner who's looking for some more out of their factory exhaust but wants to save some money over purchasing a full system and likes the look of their factory tips. So, the Outlaw muffler that we have here is the loudest of Flowmaster's muffler options. It's gonna give your truck that aggressive and deep exhaust tone. This muffler replacement is constructed from mandrel bent 409 stainless and features a satin black finish that resists rust and corrosion. So, I'm giving this exhaust a four out of five on the loudness meter. Since we are replacing the large factory muffler with this smaller straight-through muffler design, it is gonna be quite a bit louder and more aggressive tone than the factory exhaust, but we do keep the two smaller mufflers at the back, which takes the edge off a little bit. I think the sound is a perfect combination. So, this particular option comes in at around $300 making it one of the most budget-friendly muffler replacements for your Ram. I'm gonna give this install a two out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter. Cutting is required for install, but all in all, it can be done in approximately two hours. So, with that said, let's jump into our install. For this install, you will need an impact gun or a ratchet, 17, 16, and 14-millimeter sockets, a Sawzall or similar cutting tool, a tape measure, a Sharpie, a 14-millimeter wrench, and a hanger removal tool. All right. So, the first step in our install with the truck in the air is we're gonna make our mark to where we're gonna cut. All right. So, we're gonna mark an inch and a quarter back from the factory muffler section. So, gravitate measure, look for your inch and a quarter mark and then mark that off. If you're not sure, you can definitely grab the muffler and just hold it up to be sure. Now, once you made your mark, go ahead and line it up and using a Sawzall or a similar tool, cut the exhaust. All right. So, clean up any burrs on this section of the pipe where our new exhaust is gonna slip over. All right. So, at this point, we're gonna remove the two bolts holding on the pipe that has our muffler section that we just cut. We also need to remove this ground cable as well, so you can do that by just pulling down on it or you can use a flathead or pliers to just pull it off its post. Now, using a 16-millimeter socket, remove these two bolts. Okay. Now, using a hanger removal tool and we have lubed up this part of the hanger just so it'll slide out easier, remove the exhaust hanger from the rubber coupler. All right. So, now we can take the two hangers at the back of our exhaust out and we are gonna support it at the front of this point because these are the last two things holding it in. Definitely just wanna be aware as we're taking it off. All right. So, now we're gonna move to the very last one. Definitely keep the exhaust supported. You may want a friend for this step. Soon as we remove this hanger, it will come off the truck. All right. Now, you can grab it and remove it off of your truck. All right. So, now that we have the factory muffler uninstalled from our truck, we can check it out side by side with our Flowmaster muffler. Now, our Flowmaster muffler features the 409 stainless steel construction with this nice satin black powder coat finish, but is gonna hold up quite a bit better than your factory unit. And as you can see, the muffler is also quite a bit smaller. This is Flowmaster's Outlaw muffler, which is their loudest muffler option, so you're definitely gonna get quite a bit more sound out of this replacement. All right. So, before we install our new muffler section, we do need to transfer this gasket over from our old exhaust to our new one. And you can get a replacement here or you can reuse this one, it is up to you. There are little tabs on the back here, so just lift up and make sure that they clear the flat part of this coupler. All right. So, the first thing that we're gonna do is slide the clamp over top of your factory pipe. Grab your muffler section, slide this over top of the factory pipe. All right. Now, you can install the hangers. You may have to twist the pipe a little bit to get it in both of them. Once you have the rear securely on both, you can move to the front. Now, you can install the hanger in the front. Install the hardware that attaches the factory exhaust to your muffler section. Make sure you're using a lock washer, lock washer, and nut on the back half. Grab a 14-millimeter wrench and 14-millimeter socket and tighten these down. All right. Now, you can move to your back section. If you need to make any adjustments with the exhaust, you can make some here, but lineup your clamp. Make sure that this metal part here that presses down is not anywhere near one of these slits. It should be pretty even between two of them. So, once you've positioned your clamp properly, grab a 17-millimeter socket and tighten it down. All right. So, that is gonna do it for the review and install of this muffler. Remember for all things Ram, keep it at americantrucks.com.
