How to Install E & G Heavy Metal Mesh Upper Grille Insert - Chrome (06-08 RAM 1500) on your Dodge RAM

1. Apply masing tape to the factory grille surround to protect it from scratches while installing the E&G “Q” or “Mesh” grille inserts.

2. Open the hood and remove the twelve 8mm factory fasteners to remove the factory grille surround from the hood (six 8mm hex bolts across the bottom, six 8mm hex nuts across the top). It may be necessary to careful ly cut through the black sealer between the hood and the grille. Place the grille onto a clean, flat work area.

3. Remove the factory grille inserts from the grille surround using a small flat blade screwdriver to pry the inserts over the tabs on the grille shell.

4. For “Q” Grilles: Install the stainless steel E&G grille left and right sections into the factory grille frame by aligning the inner slots in the grille sections with the exist ing tabs. Drill 1/8” holes and install the supplied 3/8” black truss heads screws (where shown in the three lower 90 degree bent tabs first). IMPORTANT: Do not overtighten the screws or you will strip out the plastic grille frame mounting holes!

5. For “Q” Grilles: Drill 1/8” holes and install the supplied 3/4” (white arrows) & 3/8” (black arrows) black truss head screws (where shown). IMPORTANT: Do not overtighten the screws or you will strip out the plastic grille frame mounting holes!

6. For “Mesh” Grilles: You must first gind the upper tabs (one each side) flush with the factory grille frame in order for the mesh sections to lay flat against the inner edge.

7. For “Mesh” Grilles: Install the mesh grille sections into the factory grille frame by aligning the slots in the mesh grille sections with the existing tabs. Drill 1/8” holes and install the supplied 3/4” (white arrows) & 3/8” (black arrows) black truss head screws (where shown). IMPORTANT: Do not overtighten the screws or you will strip out the plastic grille frame mounting holes! Use the supplied black plastic washers where necessary (may require trim ming).

8. Use flat or semigloss black paint to black out any bright objects that will be visible behind the grille once it is installed.

9. Reinstall the assembled grille frame back onto the hood reusing the factory hardware to finish (“Q” grille shown).
