How to Install E & G E-Power Fine Mesh Upper Overlay Grilles - Black (09-12 RAM 1500) on your Dodge RAM




Important information before you begin:

This E&G grille installation kit includes grille hole location templates) to drill mounting holes in the vehicle.

Before marking or drilling any holes into the vehicle, you MUST verify that the templates) provided in this kit match the mounting stud locations on the grilles.)

Please place the assembled grilles mounting studs over the templates) provided and make sure that the stud and hole locations are the same.

1. Open the hood and remove the radiator support panel cover exposing the factory hardware retaining the grille. Remove the plastic push pins by pulling straight up.


2. Remove the four (4) lamm hex bolts securing the top of the factory grille to the radiator support panel.

3. Remove the factory grille from the lower mounts by tilting the grille slightly forward while pulling straight out.


3. Remove the ends from the supplied black vinyl caps and slide them over the mounting studs on the grille sections (mesh grille shown, -Q" grille same). Align the mesh sections onto the backs of the stainless surrounds.


4. Install the stainless steel E&G grille sections into the openings on the factory grilles and tape them into place. Turn the grille ober and install a large black plastic washer and a #8-32 ESNA half nut onto each mounting stud and tighten until snug. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN or you will indent the grilles at the stud locations (mesh grille shown, "Q" grille same).


5. Installl the #8 x 1-1/4" black cap plugs once th closed ends have been cut off onto the upper grille surround as shown. Install the black cap to the bottom studs on the lower upper grille rounds (not shown).


6. For E-Power Grilles: Apply tape around the grille openings and align the mesh and surrounds into place, making sure all six (6) mounting studs per surround pass through the factory grille inserts. Insert a large black washer and a #8-32 ESNA half nut onto each stud and hand tighten.


7. turnn the grille over and tighten the #8-32 ESNA hal nuts until the grille and mesh are snug. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN or you could indent the mesh sur rounds at the stud locations.


8. Reinstall the factory grille by clipping in the lower edge and reinstalling the four (4) lamm hex head bolts.


9. Reinstall the radiator support panel cover.


l0. Align the lower template into palca and mark the outer hole location using an awl or similar pointed tool. Mark the hole on the opposite side by flipping the template over and aligning it into the opening.


11. Use a 3/8- drill bit to drill through the marks made in the previous step.


12. Align the mesh sections and the lower surround into the opening in the front bumper. Make sure the studs pass through the holes drilled in the previous step (mesh grille shown, -Q- similar).


13. From underneath, install the small black plastic washers and the #8-32 ESNA half nuts and tight en. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN or you will indent the grille at the stud locations.


14. E&G recommends using a mild solvent to remove any glue residue from the grille surrounds. Use alcohol or glass cleaner to remove any solvent residue.

15. Finished installation.
