Sure you can carry them on a roof rack but you need a ladder to get to them and putting them in the bed means that they are on their sides and can get damaged. The Surco 4-Bike Rack for 2 in. Receiver Hitch solves these problems by quickly mounting into your receiver hitch and giving you easy and secure access to your bikes, so you spend more time exploring than trying to climb that ladder.
Sturdy & Secure. This is an extremely sturdy unit that is made of heavy grade steel tubing that is braced for stability and rigidity. It has a top plate that has a padded channel to securely grip, without scratching, up to four bicycles. The top plate that is also lockable so that the bicycles remain secure. This is a one piece unit that has a heavy black powder coat to resist road grime, rust and corrosion.
Installation Notes. This product doesn't so much install as it is mounted using the standard 2 inch receiver that is already on your Dodge RAM 1500. It slides into the receiver and is secured with a mount pin just like any trailer hitch. If your vehicle does not have a 2 inch receiver, one can easily be installed by a professional.
