Raxiom Axial Series Sequential LED Mirror Lighting (19-24 RAM 1500)
Hey, guys. So today we're checking out the sequential LED tail lights in chrome fitting all 2019 and newer RAM 1500s without the factory LED package. So, if you are not a fan of the factory tail lights, you're looking for something that's going to refresh the lighting on the back end of your truck, then this option is going to be a great choice to take a look into. Now this will be great for anybody who's looking for some unique styling and is also looking for something that's going to stand out in comparison to the standard stock red lens. Now this is going to come in a chrome look as you can see here with multiple black and red accents which is going to add some very unique styling to the rear end of the RAM and the LEDs inside are going to make them incredibly bright if you are concerned about your lighting performance with your halogen bulbs as well. Now this is going to come with multiple LEDs. Not only are you getting the LED light bars as the daytime running light, those are going to illuminate red, you're also getting multiple LEDs that are going to illuminate red with the brake light inside of those running lights. And then you're going to have the turn signal right in the middle. The turn signal is going to be sequential which I think is a nice step up from some of the other tail lights available on the page. That's going to not only make you more noticeable on the street but again, add to the styling and the overall look to the back of the truck as well. Now the reverse light is going to be relocated to the inside of the tail light there but it is still going to be incredibly bright. So, this is gonna increase your visibility out of the rear end of your truck whenever you're backing up at night which is significantly helpful. It's a significant upgrade in comparison to the factory halogen reverse light. Now with all of that being said, these are gonna come in at roughly $500 and in my personal opinion, I think that that's a good price point for what you're getting out of the package. It's a very average price point for an LED tail light. Now in comparison to some other choices on the page, the big one-up with these is the fact that these have a sequential turn signal and these are also going to have those LED light bar running lights as our...some other choices may not have the running lights, they may not have that light bar fiber optic style to them. So, if you're a fan, this is definitely going to be a one-up on those other choices. And then the sequential turn signal. A lot of other choices don't have that. Some other choices may include that but I think that this does a really good job at the sequential turn signal with the amber look on the inside of the tail light here. Now as far as other differences with some other tail light choices, some other options may not be full LED and then some other choices may just have a different look to them when it comes to the housing as well as the lens. So, you may have a smoked lens, you may have a black housing, you may have a red lens. It kinda comes down to your personal preference in design there. However, if you're looking for a solid tail light that's going to offer you some very unique styling, a chrome look and you're also looking for that sequential turn signal feature, then these are going to be right up your alley. Now when it comes to the install, I'm gonna give this a very easy one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter. We're only gonna need a couple of basic hand tools to get the job done and probably 45 minutes worth of your time making this incredibly quick. So, speaking of the install, let's jump into that now.The tools that I used for my install were an impact wrench, a T25 Torx socket, a small extension, a soft pry tool and a trim removal tool. So, the first step of our install is to start with our tailgate open and then we can take out the two screws or the two bolts that are holding in our tail light. So, for this, you're gonna need either an impact wrench or a hand ratchet and you're also going to need a T25 Torx socket or Torx bit.So right here on the side you can tell that there are two bolts that are holding in our tail light. These are the two that we need to remove. I'm gonna use that T25 Torx socket that I just mentioned and I'm also gonna use a small extension just to give myself a little bit of room just because we have a lot going on here on the side of the tailgate. Now, these are gonna be incredibly small and we're gonna put them to the side because we'll reuse them. So, after those two bolts are removed, right behind our tailgate cable here, there is a clip that we also need to remove. So, what I'm gonna do is support the tailgate with my leg right here just so we can get this out of the way. We don't have to remove it. But I'm gonna take a clip removal tool or trim removal tool and we can just pop that clip right out of place. Now with the soft pry tool, what we're gonna do is pull our tail light back firmly. I'm just using this to separate the tail light from the body over on the right-hand side because there are two posts that stick in to hold in the right side of the tail light. So, this is a little bit helpful to pop them out of place. You don't have to use one this big. Anything that's soft so you don't scratch the paint. And then we can pull out our tail light, pull back on that red locking tab, press down and pull back. And we're gonna disconnect our main harness here. So, before we hop into the install, I do wanna step down and tell you guys a little bit more about these new tail lights, especially sitting next to our factory ones, to kinda show you the similarities and the differences and what to expect when upgrading to the set of tail lights. Now as you can see, these are going to be drastically different when it comes to the lighting and this is also going to be different of course when it comes to the styling. Now our factory tail light is going to have the standard stock look to it. We're gonna have that red reflector or that red lens. You're also going to have that white backup light in the middle and this is going to be a complete halogen setup. There's no LEDs out of this setup if you have the halogen package or the non-LED package from the factory. Now moving over to our new light. As you can see again, this is going to be drastically different. We're getting a very chrome appearance with this but we also have a black border which is going to kind of separate it, give it a little bit of contrast. And we have a couple of red reflectors in there for safety reasons and also for additional styling. Now what I do like about this is that it is going to give you that chrome look, if you are a fan of that. But the white light bars in there are going to illuminate red when the daytime running light is on and it's also going to illuminate red with the brake light. Now this is also going to be a fully LED setup which is going to be incredibly brighter than the factory halogen bulbs. They're gonna last a lot longer, be a lot more efficient and again, you are going to be a lot more noticeable while you're driving around on the street not only because of the styling but because of the very bright LEDs and that is great for safety when upgrading any lights in general. So overall, this is going to be a big upgrade and everything is plug and play. You don't have to do any additional wiring. This is gonna plug right into our factory wiring harness. So, what do you say we go ahead and install our new tail light? So, our first step over at the truck is just to plug in our harness. You wanna make sure that you hear a click and lock that red locking tab. Then we can kind of tuck this back into place. We wanna make sure that this is not getting squished when we install our tail light. As you can see, there are two holes here, two mounting points and we have two posts that we need to line up just like on our factory one. So, we're gonna line them up, give this a good push in. And it should hold in place just like that. And then what we can do at this point is secure the three fasteners on the inside of our tailgate. So first we're gonna install our factory clip. We'll reinstall our factory clip. Again, I'm supporting the tailgate with my leg here so we can push up on the tailgate support or the cable and I'm gonna pop this into place. Once that's in, what we're gonna do is reinstall our factory screws and tighten them up with the T25 Torx socket that we used to remove them. After that's finished, you wanna make sure that the light is working properly and then we can repeat that process on the other side. So that's gonna wrap it up for my review and install. Make sure you like and subscribe for more videos and products just like this and always keep it right here at americantrucks.com.
