Noah: Noah here with AmericanTrucks and we're gonna take a closer look at the LUXX-Series LED Projector Headlights with Jet Black Housings and Clear Lenses fitting 2019 and newer RAM 1500s with factory halogen headlights. And these headlights are perfect for a RAM owner that wants a fully plug-and-play upgrade with a super bright daytime running light design that really adds some style points to your truck. Now, just to be clear, these headlights fit all 2019 to 2022 RAM 1500 models with halogen headlights but they will not fit the 2019 RAM 1500 classic models. The biggest difference these headlights are going to make to your truck is their superior brightness on the road, whether it's in the daytime or the nighttime. They do have a super bright T-shaped LED daytime running light that's really going to grab your attention, and then when you pair that with those LED projector headlights, you've got an intense lighting combo that's sure to shine clear and far in pretty much any driving condition. Then the housings themselves are jet black going on behind everything else for that sleek, upgraded look, while still retaining a clear lens so you can get the maximum brightness out of these bad boys. Now, for the cherry on top, there's an amber sequential turn signal and lighting startup sequence. Now, not only do these headlights look the part, but they're built to last as well. Now, as far as construction goes, we've got industrial-grade polypropylene housings for some serious defense against moisture, heat, any kind of debris. Then on the inside, there's the patented rectangular LED projector lenses designed to intensify the light beam as well as cast it farther in front of your truck rather than spread out wide and short like a set of LED bulbs would behave in factory halogen headlights. Then sealing everything shut, we do have a polycarbonate lens for excellent impact resistance. This is what glasses are made out of so you don't have to worry about breaking these lenses. In terms of price, these guys come in right around 1,100 bucks. These headlights aren't nearly the most affordable option, but they also aren't the most expensive either. And really, you are paying for some high quality build materials, an advanced patented LED design, and a complete wiring kit in the box that doesn't need any other parts to support the LEDs. Now, all that being said, I think these are a really solid option when you're considering upgrading your RAM's headlights from the factory halogen setup.Installing these headlights on your RAM is only gonna take you about an hour or so to do at home and the job should come simple to just about anybody. We're looking at an install difficulty of two out of three wrenches because there is a little bit of wiring to do to get power to the DRLs, but if you follow along with us, you should have no problem. Speaking of install, I'm gonna hand it over to one of the guys in the shop so you can see what to expect.Male Speaker 1: Tools required for this install include a ratchet, needle nose pliers, a pair of scissors or diagonal cutters, a 10-millimeter ratcheting wrench, 8 and 10-millimeter sockets, T25 torque socket, and a few zip ties. What's up, guys? Today, we're installing a set of headlights on our RAM. First, we're gonna watch a quick uninstall video showing you how to remove your factory headlights and I'll meet you right back here for the install.Male Speaker 2: So, for this install, you're gonna need to pop your hood, remove your upper rad cover, the grille, and some of the surrounding trim. It's a pretty simple process. I'm gonna walk you through the whole thing. So, let's get started. So, we're gonna start by removing our upper rad cover. There's a bunch of plastic clips that need to be removed. So, I'm gonna use my plastic clip removal tool and pop the heads of them open. And then once I get those all removed, I can pull the panel off.And we're gonna pull this panel right off. The next piece we need to remove is the headlight trim and grille trim here on the top of the vehicle. It's a combination of a pop clip and 10-millimeter screws. So, I'm gonna use my clip tool once again and a 10-mil socket to pull all of these out, and then I can just remove this piece from the vehicle.Next, I'm gonna use my 8-millimeter socket to remove some of the screws here on the inner wheel well and pull the liner back to expose a little bit more hardware that's hiding behind the liner so I can get this panel off that surrounds the headlight. So, now that I have the liner pulled back, I've exposed this 10-millimeter bolt here inside the wheel well liner and I'm gonna use my 10-mil on a ratchet and just pull that out. Now I'll just repeat this process on the other side.Next, I'm gonna need to remove my grille. There are three 10-millimeter bolts at the bottom of either side of the grille and there are four across the top. I'll just use my 10-mil socket on my small impact gun, remove all of those screws, and pull the grille off. So, now that I have my grille removed, I can go ahead and start unbolting and unhooking my headlights. I have a clip here at the top as well as a 10-millimeter bolt, and then I have a 10-millimeter bolt here on the side from the fender, and I'll just use my 10-mil socket and my clip tool and pull those out, and then I can unhook my headlights. It's a little hard to see, but I'm just gonna unplug my headlight connectors from the back, just push down on the tabs to release them, and then you can pull the headlight out.Male Speaker 1: Now, before we begin installing our headlights, we're gonna have to transfer over this lower cover from our stock headlight to our new one. It's held in by five T25 Torx bolts, so we'll grab a Torx socket to remove these and transfer it over to our new one. So, now, we'll grab our T25 Torx socket and start on these three bolts on the bottom. And then we'll spin this around and get that bolt on the backside. And we'll spin it one last time and get our last one. With those removed, we can pull this right off. So, now we can line up these two slots with the two tabs on our headlight, slide it into place, and then we'll just reinstall our bolts. So, now we can line up these two slots with the two tabs on our headlight and get that laid down into place, and then we can start to reinstall our bolts. And then we'll spin this around so we can get our bolt on the side, as well as the one on the other side. And then we'll do that same thing for our other headlight. So, now we're ready to get our wiring set up. I've got our harness kind of laid out across the engine bay, how it's gonna go. We have this yellow connector that's gonna be going down into our driver's side headlight bucket. We've got our battery terminal connectors that are going to our battery, as well as our fuse tap that's gonna be going to our fuse box. So, now we can start with our battery terminal connections. We're gonna start over here on the positive. We have this 10-millimeter nut that we can loosen up. And then we can slide our wire onto our stud and tighten that nut back down. And then we'll come over to our negative, do that same thing.Next, we can install our fuse tap. So, we'll push in on these two tabs to pop our cover off, and then we're gonna be looking for the F38 fuse, which is this 10-amp fuse right here. We'll grab a pair of needle nose pliers to pull that out. So, now with that fuse removed, we can put it into the open slot of our fuse tap. And then we'll insert our fuse tap into the slot that we just pulled that fuse out of. And then we can reinstall our cover. So, now we can take our connector on the yellow wire and the shorter bullet connector wire and put that down into our driver's side headlight bucket. And then we'll take the longer wire for our bullet connector and run that over to the passenger side. So, now we can run our longer wire over to our passenger side headlight bucket. I'm gonna run this in front of the radiator here. And then I'm gonna follow the hood release cable here. I'll throw a zip tie there. Then you can take a pair of scissors or diagonal cutters to trim the excess of your zip tie. And then we can keep working our way over. We have a hole right here that we can run a zip tie through on this side. And then we can run this down and into our headlight bucket. So, now we're ready to install our headlight. So, the first thing we're gonna do is plug in our connectors. Now, on the driver side, you're gonna have this yellow wire connector that you'll plug into the yellow wire on the headlight. On the passenger side, you won't have this wire. Next, we can plug in our bullet connectors, and then we can plug in our main connector. And now we'll slide our headlight into place. Now with our headlight in place, we can thread in our bolt at the top and take a 10-millimeter socket to tighten it down. Next, we can come to the side and reinstall our next bolt, and then take our 10-mil socket and tighten it down. And then you can repeat that same process on the other side. Now we're ready to reinstall our grille as well as our upper trim. So, we'll line up our grille and get that in place first. And then we can grab our upper trim and slide that into place.Next, we can reinstall our two upper grille bolts on this side, as well as our six upper trim bolts on this side. And then we'll take our 10-millimeter socket and tighten all these down. And then you can repeat that same process on the other side. Next, we can reinstall our radiator cover and all of our push clips. Next, we can reinstall our lower grille bolts. The shorter bolt is going on the outside here, and then the two longer bolts are going on the inside hole. And then we'll grab our 10-millimeter socket and tighten these all down. And once we have those in place, we can reinstall our plastic cover.Next, we can reinstall those three bolts in our fender liner as well as the one bolt that holds in our plastic cover. Now, this one's gonna go right about here. It's gonna be hard to see once I get a hand in there. We'll thread that in as far as we can by hand and then grab a 10-millimeter ratcheting wrench. And then we can slide our fender liner back into place, and then we can reinstall those three 8-millimeter screws. And then we'll grab our 8-millimeter socket and tighten these all down. And then you can repeat that same process on the other side. So, that'll wrap up this review and install of the LUXX-Series LED Projector Headlights with Jet Black Housing and Clear Lens for your 2019 and newer RAM 1500 with factory halogen headlights. Thank you for watching, and for all things RAM, keep it right here at americantrucks.com.
