Justin: If you're looking to switch up the boring factory tail lights on your 2009 to 2018 RAM at home, well then you'll definitely want to check out these black LED tail lights that we have here today. Now, these DOT approved tail lights will feature a modern LED operation and look along with some bonus accent lighting offer right around that $250 price point. Install at least according to the site it's gonna get a solid one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter and take an hour at absolute most from start to finish as we'll demonstrate later in the video. So, right off the bat I do wanna point out that these tail lights will appeal to the RAM owners whose trucks are not equipped with the factory LED tail lights and are just looking to switch things up from the ordinary plain gene factory tails. Now, for a lot of owners out there, sure, the stock tail lights do the job just fine. But if you're the type of owner who likes to switch things up, modify, personalize your rig, well then, installing aftermarket lighting is one of the easiest and arguably one of the most affordable ways to do so.Now, the all black options I would think are certainly going to appeal more to the truck owners who prefer more of that aftermarket or modify look. However, if these are just a little too wild for you, well, don't worry, you're in luck, you're gonna find a ton of other options here on the site, ranging from mild to wild. But for the purposes of this video, what do you say we focus in here on the all black options and on the surface, you're getting the base black ABS plastic housing. And that's gonna be topped off with a crystal clear polycarbonate lens, that's going to allow for plenty of visibility, along with that DOT approval which, by the way, is gonna make these tail lights legal for use in all 50 states. But the big story here no doubt will be the LED operation for things like your running lights, your brake lights, your turn signals and your hazards. Well, the one lone exception will be your reverse lights which will need to get transferred over from your factory tail lights. Now, your brake tail lights and turn signals are gonna be found up here on the top portion or top block while the reverse lights themselves will be housed here in that bottom block. And with that said, probably a good opportunity for you guys at home to upgrade that factory dull yellow incandescent reverse light bulb to something more modern like an LED for instance to help keep that look a little bit more consistent. But now we wanna segue into that installation as promised earlier and swapping tail lights in your RAM for this Gen very, very simple, really only two screws that you need to remove to pop out your factory tail lights and install the new all black options in reverse order. But to give you a better idea of how this will go down, check out our detailed walkthrough and tool breakdown right now.Man: The tools used for this install are an impact driver or ratchet, and a T25 Torx bit. So, for this install, it's really really simple. All you're gonna need is a T25 socket to remove the two screws that hold the tail light into place. It's a very simple process, I'm gonna walk you through the whole thing, so let's get started. So, there are two screws that hold the tail light in. You're just gonna use your T25 Torx bit that I mentioned earlier, pull those screws out. With the tail light unscrewed, you can just pull it back gently, we're gonna unplug our top light by sliding the red lock tab back. And for the bottom one, we're actually going to remove the entire light socket as this is going to get transferred into our new tail light. So, before we can install our new taillight into place, what we'll need to do is transfer over the bulb socket that is in the upper compartment. So, what we're gonna do is twist that out, remove the bulb and then we can install the pigtail that's coming out of the socket. Push the wires in and twist the light socket into place. Now we can get this installed on the truck. Like I said our lower light socket is going to get transferred over into our new light assembly. So, I'll just go ahead and slide that into place and twist lock it in. Now I can plug in my upper light socket and push down my red locking tab and then slide my tail light into place, and reinstall my factory hardware. Once again using my T25 Torx socket I can go ahead and install the screws that I removed earlier. And now we can repeat the same exact process on the other side of the truck. And that's gonna wrap up this review and install of the LED tail lights in all black fitting your 2009 to 2018 RAM 1500. Thanks for watching, and for all things RAM keep it right here at americantrucks.com.
