What's up, guys? Travis from americantrucks.com. And today we're checking out Dominator D6 side steps bars, fitting your 2019 or newer Ram 1500. These guys are a little bit more expensive than a lot of other options you've probably been looking at, they come in at around the $450 price point. But honestly, guys, of all the available sidesteps, these are one of the few that I would consider actually double as real armor and protection. Each step actually weighs a whopping 60 pounds of piece, very heavy duty, all welded as one-piece, nice tubular construction with a full-length step pad here as well. This is pretty heavy duty as well. And the one thing that I really like about these are the brackets themselves. They're actually half-inch thick solid steel. And this is all stainless, by the way. Then on top, you're getting a nice black powder coat finish on here, definitely a lot tougher than a painted finish or a bear brushed or chrome finish. So, it's safe to say these things can take some real abuse and they're just gonna keep on trucking for a few years to come. No pun intended. Now the install is also incredibly straightforward, thanks to those brackets. It's actually a bolt-on design, and that's thanks to the new 2019 Ram's rocker panels. They actually included studs underneath there. So, all you have to do is throw the brackets on with the hardware in the kit, get the step-in place, make sure you're happy with where it's sitting, tighten everything down with the hand ratchet, and you're good to go. Honestly guys, it shouldn't take more than an hour. This is a great first mod if you've never turned any wrenches before. So, for that reason, I'm going to give the install a very soft one out of three wrenches on the old difficulty meter. And, again, if you do wanna pick up these steps, come back in a little bit, I'm gonna show you just how easy it is to get them bolted on.Okay, guys. To install our sidesteps, we'll need a standard drive ratchet, a half-inch deep socket, and a nine-sixteenths shallow or deep socket. If you wanna make the process go faster, you can use an impact gun but you'll probably need an impact swivel socket. Okay, guys, once you got your tools and everything out of the box, you wanna go ahead and grab your first bracket. Meet me under the truck here, we're at the front studs of our cab. Go ahead and seat the bracket on there. And you're gonna grab the smaller hardware provided in the kit. So, you'll need one of those smaller flat washers for each of the studs, followed by crush washers, followed by those small half inch nuts. Now we are going to play with adjustment on these brackets so that we can make sure you line up the holes for the step itself. So, we're not tightening down this stuff just yet. But when you do go to tighten all this stuff down, you will need a half-inch deep socket. Now just keep in mind if this is the first time you're working on your vehicle, especially with these new Rams, some of the paint from the truck might actually be on the studs here. You could end up cross threading these, you definitely don't want that. So, it's very helpful to try and work the knot on there just a little bit at a time. Then back it off until you get all that paint off the threads. Next we're gonna tackle our center bracket. Now the center brackets in the kits are slightly different from the rest of the front and rear brackets, they're kind of offset. Now we're working on the driver side here. So, our offset should be facing towards the front of the cab.All right, now we're gonna do the same thing for our rear bracket. Once you have all three installed on the driver side, go ahead and do the same thing on the opposite side. Then I'll show you how to get those brackets seated inside the step itself so that we can bolt everything together and ultimately tighten everything down. Okay, guys, now we're ready to install our step. But before we do that, we have to install the brackets that are actually gonna secure the step to the brackets that we threw in the truck. Now each of the steps has one of these little cutouts here in the opening, you wanna make sure you get three brackets in here in total. Obviously, you want the threads facing towards the outside of the step. Once you got three brackets in there, let's go ahead and get those set bolted on. All right, guys, now we're gonna secure the step to the brackets using the provided bolts and flat washers and crush washers in the kit. When you go to thread this stuff on there, it might feel like it's cross threading, and that's only because of the powder coat that's been built up on here. So, you want to try and get them hand threaded as best as you can until you feel some resistance. And then you can drive them home with your ratchet or your impact gun.Okay, guys, our step is seated and we're happy with where it's sitting. Everything's nice and flush, nothing cross threaded. So now we can tighten down the brackets to the pitch slim/rocker panel. Again, you'll need a half-inch deep socket for this one. All right, now, some of these top studs are definitely gonna be a squeeze, a little motor here next to the frame rail. So, we'll probably need to use a hand ratchet or an air ratchet. I know, once you tighten down those brackets, some things might change slightly with the way you secured the brackets and the step itself. You can see here this bolt got a little loose. So, I'll double check our connections and tighten them up as needed. All right, once you've double checked your hardware, made sure everything's still tight, and made any final adjustments, that'll wrap up this very easy install. And that also wraps up my review of the Dominator D6 cabl length side steps bars, fitting your 2019 or newer Ram 1500. Be sure to check them out more on the site. And for all things Ram, keep it right here at americantrucks.com.
