What's up, guys? Travis from americantrucks.com. Today we're checking out the Duratrek 5-inch Oval Bent End Side Step Bars, fitting your 2019 or newer Ram 1500. They come in at around the $230 price point which makes them the most affordable 5-inch step that you can currently buy.Any steps that are gonna cost less than these ones are gonna genuinely have a smaller diameter or they're not gonna have as many features like these non-slip pads or there'll be made out of carbon steel instead of stainless steel. And I really like that about these steps, guys. Even though they're super affordable, they are actually made entirely out of stainless steel. And let's face it, if you've seen any trucks that have a couple of miles on them and they have steps installed, over time, these do develop a lot of rust and corrosion if they're made out of carbon steel and if they don't have some kind of coating or finish on them. That's not gonna be the case here. As long as you polish these guys every once in a while, they'll look brand new for years to come. And as far as the install goes, guys, it's incredibly straightforward. If you have no experience turning wrenches but you still want to get some steps on your truck, you don't want to pay somebody else to do it, I promise you can get this done. You literally only need one ratchet and one socket. So for that reason, I'm gonna give the install a soft one out of three wrenches on the old difficulty meter and I wager it'll probably take you about one to two hours in the driveway. And that's even if you're taking your time. So again, if you want the widest and the most affordable step for your 2019 Crew Cab Ram 1500, then Duratrek has got you covered with their 5-inch Oval Bent End Side Step Bars. And if you guys decide to spring for this option over any of the other ones, you can come back to this video in just a little bit. I'm gonna show you just exactly what tools you need and then I'm gonna walk you through the entire install step by step. All right guys, before we get started, all you'll need is a standard drive ratchet with a 13-millimeter deep socket and I would strongly recommend having something like a thread chaser, a dye or some paint stripper and a wire brush. You have to remove some factory paint from the studs in the rocker panel. Then other optional but helpful tools include an impact swivel socket and an impact gun. All right guys, once you have your socket and ratchet, go ahead and crawl under the truck. We're gonna be installing our brackets on these studs that are already inserted in our rocker panel. Now as you can see, they have a ton of paint on here unfortunately. That might cause problems with installing your bracket. You don't want that stuff to get cross threaded, so simple little fix here. You can grab a thread chaser or dye or if you're in a pinch, use some paint stripper and a wire brush. We're just gonna work all this paint off of our studs here. That way, it's gonna make for an easy install. Now when you go to pin up these treads, if you are using a dye or a chaser, you want to do this by hand. You don't want to use power tools because you could end up breaking one of the studs. Just take your time with this, work it a little bit, and then back it back off to get some of that pain out of there. All right, you can see there our studs are a lot more clean and it'll be easier for our install. Make sure you do the same thing for the rest of your studs. All right guys, once you have all of your studs cleaned up, go ahead and grab your first bracket. You're also gonna need to grab three of those nylon locking nuts and three of those flat washers in the kit. Go ahead and secure the bracket on the studs, they line up with the holes so there's no guesswork, and throw your flat washers in place followed by the nuts. Now when you go to tighten this stuff down, you can use a hand ratchet but if you want to use a power tool like me, if your impact gun's a little bit too big, it's gonna be helpful to have an impact swivel socket. It gives a little bit of a tight space under here. All right guys, you're gonna go ahead and install all the rest of your brackets in this same fashion. Again, just line them up on the studs, grab the flat washers, put your nuts in place. Once we button up our driver's side, we'll do the same thing to the passenger's side and then I'll meet you guys outside of the truck and I'll show you how to get the steps on there. All right guys. Now the brackets are on there. The hard part is done. All we have to do is throw the step in place, in which case you'll be grabbing these bolts in the kit that already have the washers pre-installed. So go ahead and line up the pre-threaded holes on the step, put the holes in the brackets, get the bolts in there. We'll tighten everything down and we'll be all wrapped up.All right guys, it goes without saying, you'll be able to tighten down this stuff using that same 13-millimeter socket. All right guys, once you have that step bolted on, take a step back, make sure you're happy with where it's sitting. Make any final adjustments as needed, and that'll wrap up this very straightforward install. And that also wraps up my review of the Duratrek 5-inch Oval Bent End Side Step Bars with this really nice stainless steel finish, fitting your 2019 or newer Ram 1500. I'm Travis. Thanks for watching and for all things Ram, keep it right here at americantrucks.com.
