I'm thinking about getting a ironside grille guard and bumper, it has a hole for a winch already in it but will this winch be able to fit in the space that the bumper allows.

        • Without knowing the specific Year, make, and model of your truck, and which bumper/grille combo you are interested in, we are unable to say if the Barricade 12,000 lb. Winch would have adequate clearance.

Would this winch fit my 2013 F150 Fx4 crew cab with a ECOBOOST Engine? How would I mount it? Would I need a front trailer hitch to mount it on the truck?

        • Hello! This winch will work with your 2013 F150 Ecoboost. This winch is mounted on with a winch mounting plate, you do not need a front trailer hitch to mount this.

Does this use existing bolt holes or will I need to drill holes, etc?

        • The Barricade 12,000 lb. Winch would need to be mounted to a winch plate of sufficient strength to take the high stress and load a winch will put on the mounting when used.

            Strong winch, weak instructions

I will preface this review with the fact that this is my first winch purchase and the winch looks fine structurally as well as operates just fine. Shipping was on time and the experience with ordering through American Trucks was excellent. The winch is sturdy, and after finally getting everything installed properly it works great. The tricky part was the actual install itself. If you are getting this winch for a Jeep or to mount somewhere other than inside a bumper with a winch mount then you should have no issues. If you are getting this to install inside of a winch mount bumper then make sure you have the solenoid box mounted where you can plug the remote winch control into it. I also purchased a Barricade front bumper with winch mount and had to reroute the cables coming from the solenoid box to the winch so that I could mount the box to the remote mount location, in order to have access to the plug for the winch controller. The instructions are rather vague in regards to mounting the winch, due to the many applications, but they could be a bit more detailed in regards to situations where you may need to reroute some cables. Outside of that, the winch is great so far. I have done a bit of load testing with it, just to make sure everything was working properly, and it has had no issues. My wife was not too happy when she saw me dragging her Mustang across the driveway, but you gotta do what you gotta do to make sure everything works.

Winches almost anything out and adds a nice touch to the front bumper of your truck.
