    Video Review & Installation

It's Joe from AmericanTrucks. In this video, we're going over the Bermuda Black LED tail lights fitting all '09 to '18 Ram 1500s without factory LED tail lights. This is gonna be a great option for you if you're looking for a blackout plug and play LED tail light that is really going to refresh the rear end of your Ram 1500.So, let's dive into what the Bermuda Black tail lights are gonna give you. We have a clear lens here with a black housing underneath. So, what that's gonna do, it's gonna give you the smoke look without actually smoking the lens and cutting into light output of the LEDs. So, this is really gonna give you the blackout look without the sacrifice of light output. Speaking about LEDs, each side with these is gonna pack 15 very bright LEDs. The conversion for the LEDs are handled completely on board. No wiring knowledge whatsoever. These are 100% plug and play. They're gonna give your truck a nice modern touch to the running lights, the brake lights, and the turn signal.Another really nice touch with these is on the side here. We do have some LED marker lights, and I think that adds to the look just that much more. These tail lights do share some small similarities with the factory tail light. We're gonna get these side by side in just a second and really point out the differences here, but you still do have a reflector in between your brake light and your reverse light. The design is a little bit refreshed. You get two strakes down the side instead of one blob. I like that. Personally, I think this is a way nicer look. And the reverse light is gonna stay the same as well. We have that standard halogen bulb down there in that reflector housing that's gonna be pretty much identical to the factory tail light. Now, if you're not a fan of the blackout look, these are also available with a factory-style red lens over top. And if you're looking for more of the polished look, these have a clear lens with a chrome housing underneath. Both of those options are available as well. No matter which one you go with though, all of these tail lights will be both DOT and SAE compliant. So, no matter what state you live in, these are gonna pass inspection every time.Next up, let's talk a little bit about pricing. These are gonna be a little bit more on the expensive side. Build quality is definitely there to support that. Plug and play install is always a huge plus as well. For the pair of these, you're looking at right around 500 bucks. And if you're interested, I think it is a good return on investment. Now, before we move onto the install, one thing I do have to make a quick note of. These are only intended to work with the trucks that did not come with LED tail lights out of the factory. This LED conversion is only gonna work with trucks that have the lower and halogen tail light option. But with that out of the way, these are specifically designed for that halogen tail light truck, which makes the install really, really easy. Like I said, the LED conversion is completely on board. No wiring now is necessary. And for that, it's gonna get an easy one out of three wrenches on our difficulty meter. Should take at most 30 minutes to 45 minutes. So, without any further ado, let me show you what tools you'll need and how it's done. The only tool you'll need for this install is gonna be a T25 Torx bit. I have mine on a socket, so I can use it with a ratchet. That's gonna speed things up a little bit.So, to start our install here, obviously, we're gonna grab our T25 Torx bit. Again, I have mine on the ratchet. We're gonna drop the tailgate down and that is gonna reveal two T25 Torx screws right here on the inside edge. We're gonna get those both out and then we take the rest of the tail light out. Now, what we're gonna do is we're gonna grab our tail light housing, and that is gonna pull straight back. You see that these push pins right here are basically slotted on the tail light so that you can pull them straight back to release them. Now, we have to disconnect the thing. And in order to do that, we're just gonna turn the bulbs counterclockwise. And this one is putting up a little bit of a fight but, of course, [inaudible 00:04:00.977] those and they'll both pull out like so. Now, before we go anywhere, before we install our new tail light, one bulb we have to remove and it is this one for the brake light, our reverse light is gonna stay. And we're just gonna grab that, pull it out and we're all set.Now we can grab our new tail light. And on the bottom of that, you're gonna find this little white basically adhesive cover that's just to keep the dust out. So, we peel that off, get rid of that, and then our reverse light is gonna slide right in there. And give that a clockwise twist to lock it in place. Our brake light is gonna be even simpler. Where that bulb went, that is just gonna plug right in just like that, and then you could do the same thing. Turn that in and give it a clockwise twist to lock it in place. Then we could line up the tail light with those two push pins and give it a push backward and then reinstall the two T25 screws. So, now that we have one side completely wrapped up and we're still factory over on the other side, this is the perfect time to really highlight the differences between these two kits. We're gonna start with the factory stuff. You get that classic red lens over top of that chrome housing. It really gives sort of a dated look, especially with that halogen bulb in there. Not so much with our new tail light, however, we do have a completely clear lens over top of that black housing, which gives you, again, that smoked look without really being smoked and cutting into visibility. We have 15 very bright LEDs that are gonna make up our running lights and brake lights. We also have an LED marker light on the side, which is a really nice touch and something that's not existent on the factory tail light. Now, there are some similarities between these two. They do have reflectors in similar spots in between the brake and reverse light. That reflector is still there. However, it does get a little bit of a redesign. It's broken up on our new tail light and it splits into those two bars on the side, which I personally like. I think it's an improvement over this big reflective blob on the factory side. Our reverse light is gonna stay the same. That is gonna be that standard halogen bulb in that chrome reflector housing. So, that is gonna do it for differences between these two. All we have to do is wrap up the other side and we can call it a day. We're gonna start with our two T25 screws. We're gonna get those out of the way and then we can pull our tail light straight back to get it off the truck. Now that we have that done, we can go ahead and remove the reverse light entirely. And then for our brake light bulb, we can go ahead and pull that out. We can then grab our new tail light housing. We're just gonna remove the dust cover off the reverse light. That's gonna drop right in place same exact way it came out. And then we can plug in our tail light. Yes, like so. And then I give it a weather-tight seal by turning it in place and then give it in a clockwise turn. Line it up with the two pushpins or you could use the new ones in the kit if yours do get broken in the process. Well, you're gonna push that into place and reinstall our two T25s.That's gonna do it for my review and install of the Bermuda Black LED tail lights, fitting all '09 to '18 Ram 1500s without factory LED tail lights. As always, guys, thank you so much for watching. Make sure you keep it right here at AmericanTrucks for all things Ram.
