Description
Durable Heavy-Duty Ball Joint. The Kryptonite Products Bolt-In Front Upper Ball Joint is engineered to deliver superior strength and reliability for the demanding conditions faced by heavy-duty GM trucks. It replaces factory components designed for stock vehicles and is optimized for lifted suspensions, oversized tires, and aggressive alignment setups, making it essential for trucks subjected to heavy loads, towing, and off-road use.
Construction and Appearance. This ball joint features a forged high-strength housing with a durable black E-coat finish and a gold zinc-plated cap for corrosion resistance and a premium look. The heat-treated chromoly ball stud offers improved strength and bending resistance compared to factory studs. Internally, a metal-on-metal design combined with powdered-metal races enhances wear resistance and longevity. The coil-spring preload system keeps consistent internal tension throughout suspension travel, reducing looseness and extending service life.
Installation. Designed for straightforward bolt-in installation, the ball joint comes with premium Class 10.9 high-strength hardware. No drilling or modifications are required. Tighten mounting hardware to the specified torque and avoid using impact tools to prevent damage during installation. Proper installation ensures reliable performance in demanding applications.
Maintenance. The joint is greaseable, with a recommended procedure of applying 4–6 pumps of grease during installation. Subsequent maintenance involves adding approximately 1–2 pumps every 5,000–7,000 miles to purge contaminants without overfilling the boot, helping to prolong service life.
