How to Install Barricade Extreme HD Rear Bumper for Factory Hitches (15-18 F-150, Excluding Raptor) on your Ford F-150

Removal of Stock Bumper


1. Disconnect all four wiring plugs from sensors, if equipped. They have a clip that you push and then pull from sensor.


2. Disconnect both wiring plugs for license plate lights. Also, disconnect trailer plug. They have side tab you push and pull them free.


3. Pull the wires all the way to free from bumper and set it out of the way.


4. Place blocks under bumper.


5. Remove the three hex nuts on back of bumper on passenger side using 21mm socket and ratchet. Repeat for drivers’ side.


6. Remove bumper from truck and place front side down.


7. Remove sensors from bumper and set aside.


8. Remove Factory HD Towing package using 13mm wrench
and socket.


Installation


1. Using factory nuts, reinstall HD Towing package. Using a 21mm socket snug 3 hex nuts on each side. Do not tighten yet.


2. Install sensors in the back of new bumper. Take the rubber seal of sensor and add a foam washer then put the rubber seal back on. Press firmly down until sensor is flush. Then add a foam spacer, then lock into place with retaining ring. The two outside sensors need to point toward center and inside sensors need to point outward. For trucks without sensors use sensor plugs in place of sensor.


3. Use blocks to brace bumper.

4. Insert the 10mm double bolt plates into the bumper and secure with the 10mm plastic retainers to hold them in place.


5. Install bumper to HD Towing package using 4 10mm nylon lock nuts using a 17mm socket. Do not tighten yet.


6. Install license plate lights and trailer plug. Reconnect all wiring plugs to back of bumper for sensors lights and trailer plug. Use wire ties to keep them from hanging down. 


7. Adjust bumper so that it is center and level with the truck.


8. Tighten all six factory hex nuts and check for level and position.

9. Tighten the 4 10mm nylon hex nuts. Do periodic inspections once install is complete to check for tightness. Install license plate plugs and license plate.
