What Glasspack Muffler is the Loudest?

If you’re looking for a performance muffler that delivers a loud, burly rumble while also greatly reducing the amount of backpressure, you’ll want to consider choosing a glasspack muffler. But, before you make your purchase, you want to know just how loud are glasspack mufflers? And, which is the loudest glasspack muffler available? That’s why we have everything you need to know before making an important buying decision.

Magnaflow Glass Pack Mufflers

The Types of Glasspack Mufflers

First of all, it’s important to know how glasspack mufflers are different from the rest. Most mufflers that come standard with your Flowmaster exhaust system or Borla exhaust system are conventional performance mufflers that reduce the sound level a bit. And, because of all the turns and holes that the exhaust must travel through, these mufflers may produce a fairly high back pressure, which does subtract a little from the power of the engine.

Glass pack mufflers, on the other hand, use only absorption to reduce the sound. So, the exhaust goes straight through a pipe that is perforated with holes. A layer of glass insulation surrounds this pipe and absorbs some of the pressure pulses. A steel housing surrounds the insulation. Therefore, glass mufflers, like the Magnaflow Glass Pack Mufflers, produce much less restriction, but don’t reduce the sound level as much as conventional mufflers.
