1997 - 2003 F-150 Halo Projector Style Headlight Install Instructions

The below installation instructions work for the following products:

If you own a Ford truck, chances are you're just as independent as we are. But in order to make tackling an installation on your own a bit easier, we've collected some of our best DIY (do it yourself) guides to provide a helping hand. It's like doing an install with your best buddy - these guides will provide some valuable help and hopefully answer your how-to questions along the way. And unlike your best buddy, we won't hog all the salsa when the install is done.

F150 Projector Headlights (97-03) - Installation Instructions!

Please read the instructions from start to finish before starting this project.

After sealing your headlights with clear RTC silicone to further help water from getting into the lens, you will want to do the following:

*To ease installation we recommend you pick up at a local parts store a wire install kit-including wire quick discounters and inline wire splicers. This will make getting power from your factory wire harness a breeze and will not affect the flow of power to the stock turn signal/parking light or headlight sockets. This install with not inhibit the re-use of factory lights should you ever need to go back to stock.

Bundle the white and or red wires from the bottom row of the light, and the free hanging white and or red wires from the center of the light. They should be connected to make just ONE single wire end that you can attach your wire quick disconnect to. (Wire quick disconnects are not included.) Or, if you prefer, simply twist into a bundle using good electrical tape to wrap and seal out moisture, then attach this to the inline wire splicer on the parking light wiring harness.

You will want to do the same for ALL the LOOSE black wires. These will be your ground wires. They should be bundled together the same way as your red and white wires with quick disconnects or by twisting and sealing with good electrical tape.

Once all the wires have been bundled you will need to tap into your trucks power source and connect them. For this you will want to follow the instructions below if you are not familiar with where or how to do this.

How to find a good power source for your Halo’s and LED’s

You will want to use a VOLT meter for this step. Either a digital read out unit or a simple light up “stick” version will work fine. You will need to turn on the parking lights and with the volt meter hooked up to the negative battery terminal using the black or negative wire, poke the sockets on/in the parking light bulb’s connector. (The parking light bulb's connector is the plastic piece you took the parking light bulb out of.)

You are looking for a reading near 12 volts, or you are looking for the end of the volt meter stick to light up. The socket that gives you the 12 volt reading, or that lights up the volt meter, is the wire you want to tap into for your white/red wires to get good power. The black wire on that same harness/connector is the wire you want to tap into for your ground. Cut away or trim back the plastic casing and or tape that may be on the wire from the factory to give yourself ample room to splice into a clean section of wire. Again, use the inline wire splicers’s to do this so that you will not affect your vehicles factory wiring.

Once you have done this you should be good to plug in the parking light and headlight sockets, re install the screws to secure the light housing and enjoy your new Halo Projector F-150 headlights.
