When can I get one?

The 2009 F-150 is scheduled to be released sometime Fall 2009. The best way to describe this redesign is: "You can never have too much of a good thing."

Good on the outside ....

If you loved the hallmark traits that made the F150 the best-selling truck for more than 30 years, the 2009 F-150 is going to blow you away. The brawny new exterior has oversized wheel wells that both make the stock tires look bigger and are going to provide ample opportunity for upsizing to some truly tremendous, on or off-road-worthy wheels or tires.

A new chassis is beefed up too, with more torsional rigidity so that when your going gets tough, your truck just keeps going. More towing and hauling capacity accompanies these upgraded underpinnings, so the new 2009 F-150 is both attractive and functional.

... Good on the inside

The suspension, too, works to reinforce the Ford Truck Tough motto: a double wishbone short- and long- arm front suspension with coil-overs, a lighter, hollow front sway bar, leaf springs measuring 6" longer than the prior generation, and extra length forward of the axle centerline to improve handling. What more could a guy ask for? Go anywhere and look great while doing it ....

Well, those other things you could ask for, like traction and stability control - the 2009 F-150 has already got that covered. In fact, there's a new twist to this truck - Ford's crack team of software geeks burned the midnight oil and came up with a way of having the system sense whether your trailer is swaying. If this happens, your truck then uses a combination of braking and engine torque control to bring your trailer back in line. And if your 2009 F-150 is fitted with Ford's Trailer Brake Controller, it'll even use the trailer's brakes to make it happen. In fact, this truck might well be smarter than your cousin Joe.

And if Joe is still in the running, he won't hold a candle to this truck once you hear about the backup camera system. It's true that other, smaller automakers do offer reverse camera systems - but frankly, the usefullness of those other systems pales in comparison to this one. The 2008 F150's backup camera includes a centerline which makes backing up to your trailer hitch a breeze. Forget those long arguments with your missus (or hubby) about where that darn hitch is - this system makes you look like a towin' pro.

Smooth Sailing and Shifting

And once you're towing on the road, it'll make sure your passengers enjoy a smooth ride, because the six-speed automatic transmission has a custom tow mode that maintains a lower gear up hills (no more up-down transitions which are hard on you, your truck, and especially live cargo). Even better, this tow mode holds your rig at a constant speed downhill too. Just imagine - no more spilled coffee! (In fact, the 2009 F150 might even come with a coffeemaker if you looked close.)

So far, such a smart truck.

Power for Pay or Play

You'd think that with all these goodies, they might've ... forgotten something. The engine, perhaps?

But no. The new 2009 F-150 will only be available with full-on V-8 engines - no wimpy V-6's allowed 'round these parts. There will be a variety of engines available, but their signature redesign is a an all-new 4.6 liter V-8 three-valve engine which will crank out 290 hp and 317 lb-ft of torque. There are also rumors of a 6.2-liter V-8 "Hurricane" engine that will be available in the Harley-Davidson edition. Top of the line engine is still the 5.4-liter Triton V-8, but unlike its predecessor, this Triton is E-85 compatible. (So you can love your truck and the environment, too.)

An interior redesign, in order to achieve class-leading interior room, is just the icing on the cake.

In short - this truck has got it all. The only thing it will be lacking when it rolls off the assembly line is your signature touch - so you can be sure we'll be stocking aftermarket parts for your 2009 Ford F150 just as soon as they're available.
